Hairnets

I know I am old fashioned, but please will people who are showing, equitating etc. please please put theie hair in a hair net, or two if one isn't strong enough. It looks so messy blowing in the breeze, and it makes it look as if you are bouncing in the saddle, even if you are not.

I think they must have gone out of fashion or something. I can't understand why - they look neat and better than hair blowing about everywhere. I have always worn one, even for hacking.
 
I had my hair cut short about 2 years ago and so haven't worn once since, but always did when it was long. I even plaited it up and wore a net as well if I thought it was likely to become unruly.

I wear a hairnet because my hairs short! I cant tie it easily so hair net goes over the top. Plus I have millions as I have to wear them on the carriage under my bowler

I did try for my BHS exams but it just got into a knotted mess

so I took it off again. I've never seen the point tbh - my hair is always tied back (sometimes plaited) and it never really looked messy. When I was doing affiliated showjumping I don't remember many people at all wearing them... Then again one of the reasons I went for SJing was coz I didn't need to plait up either

I wear one all the time even for riding at home, I cant stand my hair sticking out and I think it looks soooo untidy
 
Am I weird because I just don't care what other people's hair looks like? I wear a hair net at shows but wouldn't dream of wearing one at home.
 
Always wear one at shows, wouldn't dream of not doing so. Tend not to at home but often have a headscarf on under the hat just to keep the hair contained, or at the very least have it tied back.

I rencently took the kid that I teach to her first show, I told her she must wear a hairnet, her repliy was 'Why should I when Ellen Whittaker doesn't?' ...What could I say to that??!

I got sent back to my lorry at a BE event once when I'd forgotten to put my hairnet on - it was before the start of the XC, my hair was tied back in a pony tail and the steward wouldn't let me start until I had my hairnet on. His argument was that it was a safety thing, and did I want to take the chance of being scalped should I come off? I can see his point of view and I generally always wear a net when competing in any discipline - I think it looks so much smarter.
 
here here, sorry to say IMO sticky out hair looks 'pikey' in comp.............. not matter who you are

Can cope if neatly tied back without sticky out bits on home turf.............

I always wear a hairnet when I wear a hat. I can't put a hat on without one

I also have short hair in a bob and if even a tiny bit sticks out I have to sort my hairnet out again before I continue. I'm just as anal about wearing gloves. I can't get my head round riding without them

having jump judged at a local xc event, I can tell you it is very very frustrating for jump judges out xc, trying to see your number, to tick off that you have gone through, if your number is covered in hair xx
