Well I had last week off work so spent lots and lots of lovely time with my hairy little coblet. However I noticed that despite having had some of hair clipped off she is always really hot and dripping with sweat even after the gentlest (sp) of exercise.

So I took the bull by the horns and had her clipped out! Oh my word she looks so totally lovely. Of course I did not have her legs clipped as I would not get rid of her beautiful feathers but the rest of her is no longer hairy.

I have to say that she seems so much happier now and seems to love wearing her purple flowered rug too!

Just thought I'd share.

I did the same, Chancer the yak is no more apart from his little hairy legs and the front of the head. Despite this, on Sunday when doing some schooling, he was still dripping - is has been so warm. Lot easier to run a wet rag over his clipped coat though.

Did people comment on how different yours looked? We have a new livery who had only seen Stinky roughed off rather than as a show traditional, and they were suprised that under all that beard and fluff there is a rather handsome head on Stinky.

Yea, last night I had loads of positive comments on how pretty she now looks.

I loved her hairy and I love her now. To be honest I would love her covered head to toe in sh*t!

There are a lot of cobs up at our yard - mostly for showing and dressage ! - they get clipped out completely and boy do they look different - and lovely! there is a mare there who has the prettiest head I have ever seen on a coblet!
