Have just browsed through photo gallery and one transformation in particular amazed me - JoBo's coloured cob. Wow! He was fabulous to begin with all hairy but was completely unrecognisable when shown hogged and trimmed. Stunning, absolutely stunning.

Have you any before and after piccys of your hairy horses' transformations I could see, please? Next summer I may consider giving Archie a haircut - he has always been a fairly hairy beast with the occasional mane pull and tidy but feathers and legs I have always left. I am really sorry but do not have any success trying to put a photo on here so you can't see him, apart from my siggy.

Have you trimmed and regretted it or was it the best thing you did? Would love to know your opinions.

Sorry, no pics, but I just wanted to agree with you about the transformation of Bodey - he is such a credit to his Mum and Auntie.

I hogged seren many, many years ago and I did love it (no pics sorry), but I do love her very long mane now even more.
In regards to trimming feathers, every time I have done this i have regretted it

I bought Hattie hogged and clipped. I let it all grown out as she was over sized as a show cob so showed her as a traditional.
Last season I started hunting her so the hair came back off. She is much much better for it and is so much easier to keep clean.

Hattie when I got her

Oh thanks guys for saying such nice things about my very special Bodey Cob! I just opened this post and was like WOW, a post about my boy! Bodey just doesn’t suit hair I don’t think. It was the best thing to do, just taking it all off. He looks much less pony with out it.

I prefer him trimmed with a short, pulled mane. IMO he doesn't get hairy enough to be hairy, his feathering isn't long enough in front, plus he gets ridiculously hot when worked and the mane and feathering was just adding to that!

Bella is a SecD x traditional cob so likely to be hairy. Haven't got an up to date pic but this one was taken when she was about 9 - 10 month old with the feather starting to show through nicely
