Hello All

The elastic on my half chaps broke yesterday, just in time for my birthday this week and my OH asked me what I would like... I loved my chaps, they are Mountain Horse ones, about two or three years old and am now wondering what to replace them with or should I just fix them and hang on?

I've looked on the MH website and it doesn't look like they make them anymore. Also when I went XC in them my leathers still pinched like anything so I wonder if I should get some new ones. They are quite thin.

What half chaps do you recommend?

PS Sorry if this has been done before recently but search function doesn't work

I love my Ariat. Not sure which model but they're leather with suede on the inner leg. Hmm CLassic Haps II possibly. Really comfy, good range of sizes and v.supportive

Do you mean these Ariat ones? classic II

Off to look at tredstep ones now- I really like their other stuff so hopefully they will do the trick

I had my ariat Classics now for about 8 years (though looking worse for wear now). They have seen me through a year of riding 6 - 8 horses a day and then 7 years of being used everyday. I do only wear them for riding and change in to wellies for around the yard though

I like those ones too. I dont think mine are meant to go in the washing machine, but they do! It can make the suede go a bit funny, but it makes them nice and clean again!!

I wouldn't mind paying that much if they did last a few years. TBH I was quite disappointed with the MH ones as they've only had two years use which isn't that much really. I'm only riding a handful of times a week

I only put them on when I get on to ride and other than the elastic they are in ok condition

However, i am very much liking the Ariat and Tredstep ones!

Shall look out the Regent ones too. Is that Regent as in the boot maker?

Yep they're the ones

I also have Tredstep suede ones as well. I use them more for hacking and around the yard and use Ariats for my lessons. I was lucky though and got the Ariats BN in the bag for £40 off eBay.

lucky you!

I've got ariat terrain for everyday. They are fab cos they don't stretch & end up round your ankles & a small actually IS a small so they fit tight enough.
