half halts, roundness

Horse Karen, I know what you mean about the art2ride stuff and stretching down...
It takes time to achieve this but within a couple of weeks my pony had started to get it. On lunge I used a chambon on her to help her get it and by he end of the first session she had started to twig. Then every lunge session a slight improvement becoming gradually more and more consistent. Yes they do keep popping back up for a while but this is became they are using some different muscles at top of neck so have to allow for reconditioning. My pony has after three months begun to develop a different shape to her neck especially at the top. But still some way to go.
As for washing lines you need to widen your hands to ensure slack doesn't occur - a light contact must be maintained at all times otherwise the flow of energy from back is lost out the front there. I know what you mean I wondered at first it it was even achievable but then one day riding her she just did it (only for a few seconds at first) but then on praising her as she did so she offered again that's how she went on. We don't ride like this all the time of course but I school her and lunge her like this each week and now she feels free flowing, lighter and happier going forward.
