Does anyone know how long these take to recharge with a smart charger?

Halfords Leisure Battery HLB678.

Or at what point are considered dead if don’t fully charge? Is 24 hours charging enough to conclude dead? 48 hours?

I’ve inherited 2 that don’t seem to recharge (or charger is faulty). Plus I’ve bought a new one.

Going to borrow different charger to try.

One has sufficient ionised water, other didn’t, have topped up but suspect battery will be dead.

Anyone know expected lifetime of these batteries.

I’ve been told last years, run a small fence about a month, then need recharging?

Any advice useful?

Mine charge in a day, sometimes they wil say they are fully charged but aren't and we have to switch the charge to pulse/repair mode for 30mins then back to normal charging mode if needed and it works fine

Thanks what make of charger do you have, mine doesn’t have a pulse / repair mode.

OK if they are heavier at the bottom they have probably collapsed inside and are dead. But if you can't tell then yes try another charger.

I'm not great at electricity stuff but that's a 70Ah battery and 5.4A charger (ie would charge a 5.4Ah battery in one hour) so it would take nearly 13 hours to charge that battery if it were completely without charge to start with. Bearing in mind that if you run a battery down to 0 charge it may never recover.

Does your energiser have an indicator light? Mine flash red rather than green when the battery is running low. I wouldn't want to leave a 70Ah battery for a month without recharging, I think that's pushing it a bit.

I’ve inherited the batteries one I saw die by energised lights. The charger has orange charger light on when charging but never goes off.

You should keep batteries at 50% ideally, if you let them run totally flat there's a good chance they are dead. The make and model doesn't matter. It applies to all leisure batteries.
