Looking for advice from anyone in Halifax?

Recommendations for equine vets to do 5 stage vetting (want someone good at spotting lameness!)

Transporter recommendations from Hslifax to Essex (will need for Saturday!)

Thank you!

the best equine vets there are hird and partners no idea about transporters although blue rose used to be good and gillies also sometimes have a lorry headed south so may be able to do a pickup

The nearest big practice is Donaldsons in Huddersfield, not sure who they use for vettings. A good one man band vet is Andy at Holme Valley vet practice 01484662999.

If you can get Andy to go I would use him. In the past I would have recomended Phil Dixon at Churchfield (a fair distance away) but he has either retired or partially retired. I haven't heard of aireworth, not even sure where they are!

Thank you; I have just looked up Aireworth and they are about 11 miles away which sounds promising. Anyone you recommend there? Particularly good at spotting lameness?

Seller uses Hird so I am reluctant to use the same practice even if it is a different vet ...

I managed to find Andy! He's a little further away and seller has limited timings for vetting so I am going to see if he is possibly available as well

I'd use Churchfields. Donaldson's are my practice but they're not equine specialists (if you decide to go with them, I'd recommend you ask for Kat or Mick).
Not sure about Andy Jennings for a horse vetting.

Thank you BM. I really need a good vet to do a thorough 5 stage vetting; this horse is not cheap () and I want him vetted as a potential dressage horse to PSG at least so good legs is a must!!!

I already have two lawnmowers so I am not looking for a third ...

I personally prefer Aireworths but have used Hirds aswell for vettings.
When I sold a horse the purchaser chose to use my vets (Aireworths) for the vetting and they rung me and told me that they would have to give the purchaser all the horses medical history that they had on record for him so I presume Hirds would be the same if you were to choose them.

Hmmm that is a good point I suppose. I suppose I could at least ask for the vet who is not liveried on the yard!

I would still think of going with hirds as they have enough vets that they can easily use one that has not seen the horse before plus they will need to disclose the previous history so you will know what has happened in the past

Thanks CM; have decided that this is what I am going to do ... But still need to find a transporter!!!!! The weather is meant to be horrendous on Friday/Saturday when I was planning on driving up but I don't want to drive a trailer 200 miles (each way!) in that weather ... :(
