Was the pros and cons of using a halter?(The thing that goes through the dogs legs, Round and joins at his neck where u clip the lead on.)

Compared to a normal rope choker lead.

I seem to be the only one that walks the dog. And Am desperate for a new LONGER lead. Do any of them give more control Etc?

Collars and choke chains put a lot of pressue on their neck joints which can lead to athritus etc in the neck. Also choke chains restrict their breathing and IMO shouldn't be used when there are other optiond available. Halters give you te same control (as long as you have well fitted one) as collars but the pressue is displaced around the chest area rather than being focused on the neck

I hate halters and haltis and anything like them. To me people use them as an excuse to not teach their dogs to walk to heel properly. Slip leads (which I walk mine on) and choke chains should only be used if you arer experienced in using them and know how to use them properly as they can cause some nasty damage otherwise.

I would advise teaching your dog to walk alongside you correctly both on and off the lead and good recall as well. This means you should not require a longer lead (I know I get tangled in them
