Hi... is anyone going to Halton this year? I would like to go but am a little unsure - i have a new horse and im not sure if he has done anything like that before and i haven't done it for 10 years!

You dont have to do the big jumps, I was going to go round 2 years ago and not jump at all! Just go for the jolly and maybe pop one or two if I felt confident enough, but the horse I was going to ride went lame booooo.

I'll be there this year watching though.

i have been a few times over the years, its good and has quite a few different jumps, however i would go early as it does tend to get manic after 10am,i would like to take one of mine but will only be going with one other person as it can get vv busy. Dont think there has been a year when the air ambulance hasnt come!!

Im going

Try and get an early or later start time and you will be fine

I doone it the last 4years and its been ok not too busy

I'm just going to walk the course with my friend who is going. I went last year with my horse. I walked the course the day before and thought the jumps were massive and didn't think I would jump hardly any of them, but on the day I did about 75%! Sadly I bottled the plane at the end though and just did the little jump at the side!

Not going this year as badly lost my nerve - your lucky if I break into a trot these days (literally). Plus I have a new horse now and even if I had the nerve, I don't think he's quite ready for Halton.
I agree with going as early as possible. Mainly because there are plenty of nutters with no manners whatsoever who have no problem galloping flat out past you and even jumping jumps at the same time as you - that happened to both myself and my friend last year!
Having said that, it was a really fantastic day and I just wish I had the bottle to do it again this year! Go ahead and have fun!

I did it ten years ago on a pony and loved every minute of it, always did love x country - just not done it for a while. When i did go i took a 14.2 pony and we jumped the plane - i have a picture of him with his eyes closed as he is jumping it. ha ha.

I now have a 16.2 to take round, i know he can jump just not sure if he has been x countrying before.... might take him to a class before hand to test the waters

The person i wanted to go with can't go... she was going to be my lead person just in case.... i might go alone, need to pluck up the courage and stop being such a wuss....

I wanted to go but I don't think I have long enough to get my horse back up to fitness as she is literally just about to come back into work... I suppose 7 miles isn't that far, and I don't have to jump....
