Im thinking of entering Hambledon as my first event of the season - late start due to injury

How tough is the PN ? Have looked at Saf's photos of the event and the only fence that looks like a huge concern is number 2 - the bright orange bullet - but I will keep telling myself that horses are colour blind.
Anyone been round the PN? What were your thoughts ?

It's a lovely course, through the bluebell woods, 2 waters, 2 sets of steps. Big dich palisade near the finish. SJ is very leary and well up to height.

I would say it's mediun difficulty.

Id definitely say its one of the bigger PN's. saying that though due to being balloted I took my 5yr old (at that point actually 4) round it for her 1st PN and took Mac a horse who had only ever done 2 intros round it for his first PN and they seemed to cope ok.

SJing was very bright and up to height as well.

Its a lovely lovely event and im a bit upset im not going this year due to one very close being on at the same time

If you do go good luck!

Great course.
Up to height and educational but not technical at all.
If youve got a bold horse they will be fine

One water crossing, steps down and up. Just lovely lovely event.

I went there with a friend last season - I'm a wimp, but I would have done the PN, big and inviting but not too technical, a lovely event, will be going to watch this year

Thanks guys - doesnt sound to bad - it isnt his first pn, just first this season and he is quite bold - defo bolder than I am! He has never stopped with me xc at a fence unless it has water connected to it - water is our main issue and from what I can see the water looks quite simple ? I would also be concerned if it was highly technical !
SJ up to height isnt a problem as that was his last job !
I just wish the season was starting sooner for me !

I did it last season as my first evnet having broken foot (and still wasn't meant to be riding) ok my horse had been novice the season before but he flew round with no help from me (i could only just stay on with feet in the stirrups hehe!!!)

Its a fabulous event, miles from us but we go each year the courses are beautifully built so very encouraging, the gun cartridge fence does cause problems because its shiney and jumping into the dark but its round and not big so can keep kicking and scramble over it! Nothing technical just a lovely ride round the woods!
