A bit of a late report and may be long.

I headed off to the Hand for there all inclusive 4 day show (only i just went for the last 3 days).

FRIDAY - Got there wishing the rain would have eased off but no, it just came coming down. Our first class was the Discovery in the second ring by the road. The warm up was already becoming boggy and muddy as most of it was on grass although the ring was on a surface. So went in trying to get my last double clear and bless my horse he went clear for me and in the jump off, so came 4th

, got my last double clear

and because i came in the top 5, qualified for the final of the bronze tour on Sunday

I was then supposed to go in the 1.05m, but as it was the last class in the second ring and the ground was getting worse, so i put him im the 1m in the main ring instead. We just had 2 down in the jump off as i got a bit over excited and went a bit to fast

SATURDAY - After getting drenched on the first day, saturday was very windy. First class again was the discovery but in the main ring. Came to the first fence, i was a bit off stride and he was too busy looking at people and trying to frighten himself which made our stride even worse, anyway i pushed for a long one, he tried to put another short one in, crashed into the fence with his head down and me sliding down his neck to land on my feet, i was not impressed.

So took him in the 1.05m in the second ring, it was well up to height and a bit of a strong course. He jumped well just getting a pole down and one stop (my fault), which put me in a slightly better mood.

SUNDAY - This was the bronze tour final class which stood at 1.10m, we haven't jumped that high before. After walking the course the night before, i couldn't sleep all night worrying about the course. I was still a bit panicky going into the ring. He was really good and helped me out loads, he balloned over most of the fences, just had 2 down as numpty rider got striding wrong again and it was a related distance line and got the second and third fences wrong.

But i'm sooooo please with how our first 1.10m went and out of 16 riders only 2 went clear.

Thank You for reading and sorry if it's a bit long.

Well done!!!

I went to watch on Thurs and Friday but didn't make it down at the weekend

On Thurs Cordy went DC in the 1.15 but her martingale snapped over the first fence in jump off so couldn;'t go against the clock... she wore 2 martingales in the Fox (just incase!!

) and just had the very last pole down!

On Friday Cordy won the Fox

and Betty Bug (who is now owned by my friends in Devon) had 4 faults in the 1m.

On Saturday (although I wasn't there) I was informed that Betty was trying to jump her rider off (her favourite trick... she decides what height she's jumping despite the height of the actual fences...usually she go anywhere from 1m to 1.20... lol!!) and came 2nd in the 1m!

(its only her second outing since coming back into full work after maternity leave, at her previous show she won her first class and came 2nd in an Am Champ qualifier... she loves being back in the ring

and her new owners adore her

well done for having a go at the final !
the ground got bad after that rain didnt it. one of mine didnt take to the mud and started seriously overjumping so I had to pull her out (shes only young) on the saturday. It dried so fast though didnt it! I was in the discoverys as well on a mental horse so if you saw anyone rearing every 5 minutes- that was me!!

Yes the ground was a bit up and down, luckly mine doesn't need a lot of warming up so didn't jump a lot on that ground.

I think i can remember one horse rearing in the main ring

well done sound slike you had a good show and good on you for having a crack at the final - sounds like you made light work of it - are yougoing to have a go at some more ?

I must admit I had it down as a non grass venue too, why make you if the weather was that bad when they have surfaces, sounds like you ploughed on well done!

It was only ring 2's warm up that was on grass, both rings were outdoor surfaces, they had the big indoor school open to warm up on the flat and the indoor warm up was the warm up for ring 1.
