im just wondering what hand cream every one uses for these cold winters down at the field? hands have become very dry and cracking and my hand cream is not doing anything at all i use nivea but doesnt even work in the slightest. thanks all x

Neutrogena is really good. Not as effective as not having horses, but it is pretty good! I always put it on at night and also under my gloves each time I go out to do the horses.

Norwegian Formula Neutrogena hand cream but make sure it's the concentrated one. They do scented and unscented but tbh I don't think the scented one smells anyway.

Vaseline hand and nail cream :)
Works wonders for me and doesn't make my hands feel greasy afterward like a lot of other creams do.

I always have a tube of Nivea in my handbag and at work as im forever washing my hands.

i too forever wash my hands, i have ocd (not good when you have horses and always getting dirty)

i just want something i can put on before i go to field and while im at home that isnt greasy or leaves a wateryness on your skin for hours and helps my hands heal

Naf Stablehands at night, and Boots Essential intensive handcream for dry skin during the day. The stablehands especially is v good, but it is a bit greasy so I put it on at night then leave it to sink in while I'm asleep:)

Neutreogena - I apply a generous dollop before bed and then as and when I think about it during the day. I personally use the unscented one but have a tube of the scented one on the go at the moment and can't really tell the difference!

Vaseline to an intensive body lotion which is also pretty good.

Rarely use it cos I hate the feeling so only thing that gets near my hands is sudacrem when used on the boys legs!!! Or suncream when covering their pink noses in the summer. Hands of a navvy me!! :D

Clarins hand and nail cream. It's the best i've used so far. Or, the Norwegian formula (as already suggested) is also very good but I found leaves a bit of a slimy hand.

You have to wash and re wash out here all the time since it is so revoltingly filthy so I have to coat mine all the time or suffer the inevitable cracks and splits.

Now all I need is something to help with cracked heels...

My favourite is Atrixo regenerating treatment handcream- I have a tube of that at home- it's great stuff, have used it for years and it's good at stopping cracked sore hands in the winter.

And at work I just use Johnsons 24 hour moisture handcream which I got in Sainsburys for only about £1 but its really good and moisturising.

thank you they are some great ideas i will have to try some of them over the next few days/weeks x
does anyone find that when hands are chaped it stings when you use certain hand lotions? or is that just me?

Euceryrin - totally fantastic.

Tried everything from Neutrogena, Lotil, Udder cream (don't ask!!) but nothing stopped the cracking.

Euceryrin was recommended by my doctor and it is wonderful - only need a tiny amount so a tube lasts ages.

I've used loads and loads of creams and potions- neutrogena, vaseline, nivea, garnier, olay (best for my face, not so good for my hands) E45, sudocreme, diprobase (prescription) and loads of own brand basic stuff.

best thing for my hands is pig oil and sulpher, they were making me cry this morning because of the splits/dry/soreness rubbed the oil in and i havent noticed them since.
magic!

Another vote for body shop Hemp. But the key thing I've found is this:

http://compare.ebay.co.uk/like/2505...inkin_id=8051094&kw={query}&ff4=262531_281231

because I never have to take my gloves off for anything (tieing haynets, rug buckles, making feeds, opening padlocks etc etc) my hands are rarely exposed to the elements, which has made a huge difference. I used to get terrible cracks on in inside of my thumb and forefinger, which would then get muddy and no amount of scrubbing would clean them. Now, hardly ever!

Also, I keep a bottle of nice hand cream (Molton Brown is favourite) on my desk which reminds me to apply it more often :)
