hand cream what do you use?

I'm loving Soap&Glory Hand Food.
Umm this smells yummy and is not too greasy! I had a tube on my desk last winter. :D

Norwegian Formula Neutrogena hand cream but make sure it's the concentrated one. They do scented and unscented but tbh I don't think the scented one smells anyway.

This is a classic, cheep(ish) and good for deep cracks, also the unscented one is good, if you have eczema.

Crabtree and Evelyn gardeners hand cream, very good and love the smell :D
Goes onto skin like velvet, smells like well, Rose if you pick Rose...or Lavander etc...only thing I don't like is the metal tube is a pain and fiddly when you already have some on your hands and are trying to get the last drop out!

My all time favourite is Aveda's 'Hand Relief', just perfect!

I suspect I'll have to try Bert's bees too soon if their lip slave is anything to go by...

but where to start....? They all sound so edible!

Another vote for Crabtree and Evelyn gardener's handcream - fantastic stuff and not greasy, expensive but lasts for ages. I also use Boots own brand aqueous cream (ask at the pharmacy counter), cheap as anything and pretty good.

Another vote for bodyshop Hemp, or nivea. I also use gloves as nuch as is practical. One thing that made a big difference to me avoiding splits on the end of my fingers and thumbs was wearing gloves for washing up. The grease eliminating properties of washing up liquid also dries my hands.

E45 - I've used so much of it over the last 20 years I deserve shares in the company! I use it on face as well as hands. Keeps the wrinkles away too, honest! :D It's price is more competitive than it used to be and you can be quite sparing with it - A big pot, cost about £6, lasts me at least a couple of months, despite using it several times a day.

Boots aqueous cream, you get a big tub for £5 which lasts over 6months. I've never had sore or cracked hands since :)

But it takes forever to be absorbed!

Now all I need is something to help with cracked heels...

I suffer from these too despite pumicing my feet every single night. I have soft feet but get big cracks which are agony. :(

Boots cracked heel balm is quite good (although I reckon it's just Lanolin by another name ;)).

Someone once told me that it's due to a deficiency of some sort.

I use neutrogena. Works well for me but I think with this kind of thing often it's finding one that suits your skin that's important.

i've used every hand cream under sun from own brands to dior, elemis and creme de la mer (i also also burnt my hands when i was a kid so skin dry anyway) - and have 7 horses and farm so my hands look 100 yrs old and i'm only 33. i use hand cream 3 0r 4 times a day, when remember really, and best one found on market so far is : ''Aveeno Hand Cream with colloidal oatmeal'' i got mine as a random 'not tried before' in lloyds chemist, it was £3.99 for 75ml, beige tube with olive green lid and writing. IT IS AMAZING!!! it says it moisturises for 24 hrs and although thats a bit far fetched (i'd say 8 or 9hrs) but this stuff does what it says on the tube. it leaves hands with a silky sheen yet isnt petroleum based so not greasy at all and sinks in to almost form a glove. brilliant stocking fillers!!! :)

thank you they are some great ideas i will have to try some of them over the next few days/weeks x
does anyone find that when hands are chaped it stings when you use certain hand lotions? or is that just me?

Nope, not just you! E45 stings like **** when I use it - so painful! I'm using Vaseline Intensive Rescue Relief and Repair Balm at the moment which seems to be working pretty well although my skin is still quite dry, it isn't as sore or itchy.

I have L'Occitane Verbena Hand Lotion on my desk. Lovely stuff, not too heavy and smells lush. When i'm knocking about the stables though I just use Udder Cream or Hoof Moist! (the white one).

Oh and if all else fails, have a bath and then cover your hands with either Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream or Vaseline (petroleum jelly, not the lotion) then stick some gloves on overnight. Either of them cures anything!

during the day, i use body shop hemp hand cream or hemp balm - i actually prefer the balm, as i use less as it makes my hands feel greasy. i try to wear gloves as much as possible, which also helps protects my (false) nails as well as keeping my hands soft.

then at night, i use e45 cream (with moisturising gloves when i remember).

i just picked up free samples of the " Aveeno hand cream " in my local Loyds a few days ago ... and i have to say its fantastic , best stuff i tried in years , even better than my normal L'Occitane shea butter thats ive used for years !!

This ^^^ plus their lip balm is great, however hard to get hold of. Another good lip balm is Blistereze. I go through loads 'cos I suffer with chapped lips( boiling in my classroom and them blowing a gale when we go up the stables) Does anyone else have any ideas to stop chapped lips. (sorry for the hijack)

I would love to be able to reply to these posts with genuine recommendations but I'll get slapped for advertising since I joined the company whose products I use

Perhaps some of the lovely members who already buy from me could recommend them for me? :D

Another vote for body shop Hemp. But the key thing I've found is this:

http://compare.ebay.co.uk/like/2505...inkin_id=8051094&kw={query}&ff4=262531_281231

because I never have to take my gloves off for anything (tieing haynets, rug buckles, making feeds, opening padlocks etc etc) my hands are rarely exposed to the elements, which has made a huge difference. I used to get terrible cracks on in inside of my thumb and forefinger, which would then get muddy and no amount of scrubbing would clean them. Now, hardly ever!

Also, I keep a bottle of nice hand cream (Molton Brown is favourite) on my desk which reminds me to apply it more often :)

wow just had a look at them and bought some! :D in pink!

lip balm wise i have found that avon own brand is amazing! it only costs about £2 and straight away makes lips feel soothed and within a few days lips feel very good and no chappedness! highly recommend.

thank you for all suggestions i have bought some Norwegian fomula (probs not spelt right) along with some vasaline hand and nail too....and ofcourse those wicked gloves from link to ebay :D:D

taking a bit of time to sooth my hands but they are working wonders on my face and other dry areas like my elbows xx
thank you all for advice and dont worry about the high jack RE: lip balms :D x

I am using Burt's hand repair cream. It is the best thing I have ever used and it works. I have no splits this year - they were cracked and bleeding last year and also my nails have never been in better shape!! Oh and ask i'm lazy I only put it on about 2 times a week!!!
