Sorry will try to keep this short. Had a demonstration yesterday of the equissage on my lad. I was very sceptical that it would make any difference to him. He has navicular, SI probs & PSD.

The results were amazing & I honestly wouldn't have believed the difference in him if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes!!

He is sound but quite stiff but after treatment, worked in the school in a lovely outline etc.

Beforehand he was quite tight in his hamstrings (this has happened before). Obviously the back pad must have helped but I think the hand held massager helped his hamstrings.

As I am still repaying my Mum for his hospitalisation fees (for perotinitis) I cannot afford over £2k for the equissage (had no idea it was that expensive as reps not keen to discuss price over phone before they come).

I am seriously thinking of maybe getting an equilibrium massage pad (anyone compared it to the equissage & if so do you think it is as good?)

I use my hand held infra red massager on myself & the dog (if he sees me get it out for myself, he comes over & stares at me until I massage him with it :) ) It definitely helps me & I'm sure it benefits the dog. I don't want to take it to the yard as it's a mains model & it would be a nightmare to use with extension leads etc.

So, anyone have any recommendations? Am I being really stupid even considering this?

Thanks in advance xx

No ive never done that before but what a great idea.Ive got a rolling vibrating massager and i think im stealing it from home and taking it to the stables for a go!!!;):D

at work we have the equilibrium massage pads and they are excellent and a more sensible price than the equisagge, the horses love them and we use them alot in the winter and if we have a big show or long travel as our main pony is quite old and stresses out a lot travelling so it helps reklax and chill him out as well as loosen his back off again

i have used a person massager on my own horse infa red one side and massager the other, i like it as i can feel along and massage the areas i think need most attention and feel tight to me, the only draw back being i have to stand there i do it so it takes longer where as the eqilibrium pad you can just stick it on and muck out or whatever whilst its doing its thing

I use a Boots one on my horse, although it is mains connection but she loves it, also have a rollerball massager (non mechanical) which I originally bought for me ages ago but I use it on her now, think it was from the Body Shop, and she guides me to the bits she wants massaged!

Thanks so much for all the replies, I will definitely get him a hand held massager & will be saving up for the equilibrium pad. This is the horse who doesn't really like being groomed but will stand for hours to be massaged lol xx
