I once had a broken cheekbone from slipping on a wet floor on holiday. The whole left side of my face was black and blue even a week later when I started a new job (new department in same organisation). I knew some people there but it was pretty embarrassing turning up (having had to take a week off sick before even starting) looking like I did. One person whom I'd worked with before and was I quite friendly with saved me by saying very loudly when I explained what had happened "I knew it would be something like that because there's no way you'd have put up with your OH doing it to you." I think I got a reputation for being very no nonsense from that day onwards! To be fair though most people who knew me assumed it was horse related rather than my OH!

That must have been so painful! Good job they believed you. 😀

Some of our more niche injuries can be very difficult to explain.

Handily, I work at an opticians so my boss is going to have a look at it. 😀

My worst was a big shiner that everyone at work thought Mr Red had given me. Truth was, he did! Bigger, whole picture truth would have included that I tickled his tummy suddenly, unexpectedly and hard, and he bent double unconsiously. I was in the way... He was mortified.

My fault entirely.

I was laid out cold.

I now stand to the side if I am going to unexpectedly tickle his tummy!!! 🤣

He is the kindest and most gentle of husbands. But ticklish!

It would have been easier to explain if it had been a horse-related injury, that's for sure.

Mine has elbowed me in the eye in his sleep. He tends to act out his dreams, he often tries to grab hold of the duvet to stop himself falling or throws it off and starts 'running'. Luckily, there was no bruise as that one would have been more difficult to explain!

...punched myself in the eye and caused a small bleed!

How to explain this to normal people..? 😆

Laughing with you, honest. PUnched myself so many times doing up the girth. When I rode little ponies I often gave myself a good 'under the chin' punch. There's a lot of 'FFS' going on around my stable...
