Never entered my mind before basil got Salmonella.
Do you always wash your hands after handling your horse/horsey things?
I never have until now.
I always seem to be grabbing a sandwich or something whilst still working - non washed hands.
Am i grimey or do ther people do it?
I now have handcleanser near by.

I never consciously wash my hands after being with my horse, and quite happily munch on sandwiches etc. with dirty hands (dread to think what's under the fingernails!)

The only time I do is when I've gone straight to work after putting her to bed, in which case I do a thorough scrub with antibacterial cleanser and use a nail brush. I work in a pub/restaurant so frequently wash my hands while I'm there, in case anyone thinks I'm a grimy so and so.

Depends on what I have been doing TBH, the only time I thought to remind myself to clean hands before eating was when my lad had his willy out and I was picking off the dry skin off it- he seems to like this!.

Anyhow got my sandwich out saw the packet of crisps and thought - WASH HANDS!.

Does anyone else think on picnic rides the food tastes better with horsey hands?

As my yard (as with most probably) has yuk - rats - yuk wash hands before eating with antibacterial gloop or use gloves & take off before eating !! No rats = little worry about hand washing !!

I dont while I am at the yard really and will eat at the yard without washing them, unless they are really dirty. I do have some of that antibacterial hand gel which I use occasionally. But I cant stand being at home in my horsey cloths and have a shower as soon as I get home.

Another dirty person - don't hand wash after horse stuff, altho curiously I would if I'd stroked the cat or if I'd touched a dog...

im a hand washer....but when the grime is visble!!...however watch me in the kitchen and i continuosly wash hands when handling meat!!!!.

what about the toilet one...do you wash hands after going to the loo...come on be honest!!

I'm the same as you, but then unlike so many people in my office I don't go down with all the bugs and illnessess they do. So I think it strenghtens my immune system, oh and I am going to continue to believe this as well.

I rarely wash my hands when im at the yard, i wear gloves most of the day...
disposables usually for picking out feet, and for handling muck etc.
warm ones or riding ones the rest of the time.

the problem with washing my hands would be there arent a great deal of clean towels around to clean them on unless i am going to start keeping clean towels in sealed boxes in my kit, and chances are in a hurry i'd use them on the horse or something anyway !!

A few germs isn't too much of a bad thing, apart from a few colds etc here and there i rarely get sick - touch wood nothing of the stomach bug variety etc anyway so can't be doing me much harm.

I don't wash my hands when at the yard and will eat too - never really bothered me. I only wear disposable gloves in the mornings when I have to go straight to work but never any other time
