I am just about to hand my notice in at my current livery yard but i wondered if anyone else finds this a really awkward thing to do?! Or is it just me?!

I dont really know why so have written them a letter instead to let them know!

I'm sure I would find it difficult, especially if I really got on with the staff, etc but you shouldn't feel bad. You've done the right thing by putting it in a letter anyway as every yard I know requires it in writing anyway

I felt terrible handing my notice in at my old yard. The yard manager had been brilliant and I got on well with most of the staff, but it was very expensive and I couldn't afford to stay.
I just explained it to her honestly and she understood, but it was difficult. Good luck!

Didn't bother me last time, wouldn't bother me now if there was somewhere better for same money, business is business, I would miss existing friends ect though.

I told my YO I'm leaving 2 days a go, it was horrible

I felt really bad, and started crying 5 mins later when I told my friend I'm leaving. It's not a nice thing to have to do...but it does have to be done.

I hated doing it, I moved because of the serious lack of turnout and because the YO's partner who often did the horses was unsafe and a bit of a nutter. I rang my YO and said I was leaving because of the turnout but didn't have the balls to tell the whole truth. In fact she was fine and said I was welcome back anytime!
