hanging rugs up

what do you do with your rugs?
not the ones that are stored and not in use but the ones you are using.
at the mo i am using a stable rug,MW and a LW.

i suspended a rail to hang my rugs on(had to get ladder cos the ceiling is quite high to fix it up)and because of the height of the ceiling it swings about quite a bit and i have to `fight ` with the rugs to hang them over.
got fed up with that.
next,i bought one of those tack-cleaning-4-hook thingies,(got the ladder out again).the rugs are 6`3`` so had to hang it quite high to keep them off the floor and now i have had to find a pile of 6 building blocks so that i can reach to hang the rugs up.
it`s getting on my nerves and i don`t want to buy,i want to make it myself.
any ideas?
 
i tied twine together and tied it from one end of the room to the other and just hang the rugs over that it seems to work well..

How about some sort of pulley system? So you could lower it to put your rugs on/off, then raise it again? Would need to be on pulleys as otherwise it'll be too heavy with your rugs on.
 
We have some home made A frames that we drape rugs over lengthwise - can be useful for drying. And also have a metal rug rack thingy thats attached to the walls, required a bit of tip toe work to get the rugs on (6'3 - 6'6) and they touch the floor a little but otherwise its good.

We used to have a pulley system in the back of the stables with some piping on to create a flat but for the rug to rest on. They worked very well, made ourselves so were cheap. Can't use them anymore as horses will destroy (play with) the rugs. Still have a pulley in the hay store, but don't really use it now.

Yep, that's the sort of thing - my Dad made one for me years ago (just don't ask me how!!) and it worked brilliantly

I hang most of mine on a swinging rug rail in the tackroom. I also have a bit of drainpipe hung from the stable rafters that I use either to dry rugs off, or to sling them over if the rug rail is getting full (I have WAY too many rugs..!)
 
My old mare has all of her rugs on a washing line hung against the back of the stable. then mother comes along and she asks Tammy which rugs she would like to have on!!
I personally think they should both be comitted.
just two old ladies arguing over the weather and how much they need to wrap up.lol
