Firstly, I want to say a MASSIVE thank you to all those who encouraged me to go for it - Binky01 and the others on my post whos names I have forgotten, thank you so much! So what this forum is good for!

SO, today was our first ever show! I was nervous as hell, taken so much rescue remedy its untrue. Brought her in from the field, had a relaxed morning because show wasn't til half 2. Lots of grooming, she stood like a pro and was really well behaved.

Loaded without any problems, straight up. Pretty cracking for a yearling!

Turned up at show, went to show sec who recommended I entered Prettiest Mare as it was the first class, so it was earliest (with the intention that if I wanted to enter more I could do more later). My OH got her off the trailer, I signed up, Puzzle stood like an angel apart from a bit of whinnying. Waited for a little bit which was nice, as gave us both time to settle and take it all in a bit!! Then the class got called so we went to the ring.

She went a bit mad on the way to the show ring, had a complete panic attack at a collie and the rope around the arena! But when we were in there were only 2 other people (another girl came in later) so that was good =] nice small class. We walked round for quite a while whilst waiting for this other girl, then stood in the middle for a bit. Standing was stressful unless she was eating so let her eat, can work on that later! Then we walked round which was great she was really well behaved. When called to trot she went a bit bonkers and basically reared around the ring, her little brain just exploded bless her. Anyway, then walked around a bit more, turned in, and we got called 4th - last! But judge was absolutely lovely, said she was impeccably well behaved for the line up and walk, but the trot was a bit of a disaster!! But she said that Puz did really great and how impressed she was with her. So that was very very good!

Then we went home, I decided not to push it as she'd been so good so we went home. Apart from a bit of a disaster involving her breaking free and running round the lorry park (!!) she was great, loaded again no problems. Thanks to the ladies who helped catch her if they're on here!!

Anyway, extremely extremely pleased, she did just great. Love the baby!

Aw thanks you too! She is such a babe. I cant stop smiling I'm so bloody proud of her. I feel I should apologise for the state of her stomach she is HUGE! But we are working on it =]

She is soooo pretty! Ill just say aswell how nice you look - properly attired to show - the others in the ring are without jackets (i know its hot) and another with her sleeves rolled up - i hope you got extra credit for turning yourself out so nicely.

Farma - I was pretty shocked to be honest at the turnout! Most people were dressed like me, but there was one woman showing in linen blue shirt and shorts!!! I wonder whether maybe her kid decided she wouldn't do it, but I kind of think maybe she should just have gone home? And ye, loads of people without jackets. TBF, it actually wasnt that warm, there was no real sun and quite a breeze. I was pleased!

Pedantic, thanks =] shes my baby. So proud of her!

Thanks Deefa =] very pleased! Apart from her new trick of headbutting me in the stomach when she panics - oof!

She looks lovely. I'm sure when she's been to a couple she'll really get the hang on things. I've never done showing in my life so I'm probably not the best person to advise but I've always thought that the rule was that you wear different colour trousers to your horses legs so in this case I would have worn dark trousers.

Well see I thought that was the rule too but the lady in the saddlery said shed not sold a single pair of dark trousers this season, so we went for beige with the idea that at least they werent white... but there also wasnt one other person there wearing dark trousers either!!! So I dont know, I thought that was the rule too but I'd have looked silly today. Hmmmm....

Yay!!!! :D Found it found it. LOL. I've been browsing through CR and PG for it. Silly me!!! :p

Congrats! Sounds like you had a fab day....don't worry too much about the little explosion incidents, they'll get less and less each time :) You'll have a lil mare you can leave tied up with no worries at a show in no time at all , the more she does :D xxx

Aw thanks you guys! I dont know how to post videos on here but my lovely OH took a video of the horrific trot LOL! If someone can point me in the right direction I'll upload it =]

Was so embarrassing when she legged it off round lorry park. But everyone was so lovely - and was very embarrassing because everyone was going "god shes got a lovely trot" whilst she's buggering off away from me!!!!

Not sure how to practice her trotting cos she does it perfect with me. Thinking its just taking her to lots of shows and getting the practise in.

xxx

I'm going to go for investigation in how to post it...!!

Hmmm I might invest in some black jods if I take her in to proper classes =] thanks! Just NOBODY else was today!!!

Sorry went to bed last night and only just seen this today!!

Thanks MrsM, not sure when we're getting out again but I really enjoyed myself so will definitely be looking for more shows. There is another on the 22nd August at the same place which we're definitely going to go back to.

horsecrazy - thanks!! =] my leather lead rope is just the right length that when she's being a prat I just take a step back and I still have comfortable hold of her, but she's nowhere near me!!! By the point she started rearing I'd pretty much decided that we were just going to walk because I didn't want to stress her out any more. She wasn't being naughty, I think her little brain just exploded bless her!

It also didn't help that we had to trot right past firstly my OH who was stood at the gate and also the gate entrance itself, trotting away from home will always be difficult methinks!

Any ideas on how to practice it when not at a show though? Short of paying lots of people to make noise?!
