Hannah update - Saturday and still no foal

I am now beginning to wonder whether the foal is actually still in there... she looks to have gone even thinner on her tummy, but when I turned her out this morning her bag decreased. The liquid coming out is like a golden colour (I had a quick squeeze when she came in).

I don't get it... everything else is pointing towards her being ready to foal (very slack bottom, long puffy vulva, wobbly tail, foalie looks to have moved backwards) but her bag has reduced again! There is a new swelling in front of the one in front of the udder (if you know what I mean).

Does anyone have any ideas or advice as I am starting to get a bit worried by everything looking ready to foal and the bag just not keeping up!

Hiah - Definitely looks in foal!! I'd say her bag isn't quite ready to go yet - you'll find the teats will usually point outwards a day or so before they are due to foal...

When is her actual due date? And that gap between her udders you can see from the rear view - that still needs to fill up yet...

From those pics if she were mine I'd be thinking a few more days yet...
 
how peculiar. beware, shes probably jus fooling yoo and theres probably a foal waiting for yoo now! it's strange how these mares work.. but she looks in great shape for an overdue mummy! x
 
Her bottom muscles look to have slackened more today, but with her belly getting smaller, the foal may have just moved into a different position. I'm sure everyone will reply 'Don't worry!'

Must be so fustrating for you! Do you remember waiting for Josiejo's (I think it was) foal last year, there was lots of advice and someone said they often hang on if it's very cold. Well the last couple of days have been much chillier here - is it the same in Lancashire?
 
Forgot to add... Hannah is very blessed in the teat department, she always has been. The vet said that because of this she will probably not get the turned out look because they are incredibly huge normally - this was at the beginning of Feb with them looking pretty normal (looks as though she had one powerful sucking foal before!!!

Love the first piccie, im sure everything is fine. I think Hannah must be one of these mares that runs milk a few hours before the birth. Likes to keep you on your toes doesn't she.

The daddy (if it is still there that is...) is Pro-Set, and Hannah is an IDxTB of unknown breeding who was imported from Ireland as a 3 year old having just weaned a foal (she was still bagged up we believe, poor baby).
 
LoL She does have quite big teats bless her doesn't she! Oh well if you can't use the pointing out marker then it's even more of a guessing game! Maybe she is just waiting til you're so tried you doze off and then she'll pop baby out while you're asleep!
 
Thanks... I was thrilled when he won his first Grand Prix a few weeks ago. I always thought he had the makings of one, but it can sometimes be risky when they haven't proved themselves.
 
I am beginning to think it will never come out of there... a nurse on the yard was telling me about a woman who was pregnant for 7 years!!!

I genuinely thought she would be early because she was so huge last month. But now she has gone smaller than she was then, and is now showing no changes whatsoever over the past couple of days. Like I said, everything but her bag is ready to go!
 
My mare ran milk (literally) for 7-10 days before she foaled - I was getting up to her twice a night and the first night my Dad got up instead of me, she had foaled all on her own and foalie was up and running round her! Don't panic, she looks great and is highly likely to pop it out when you're not there!

I reckon the foalie is such a superstar that he needs a little more time. He probably thinks 'lets better stay longer in here so I can be strong and talented to please my both mums and to be even better than my famous daddy'

Ah don't worry......he's coming tomorrow.....(I'm still standing firm....might be wavering by tomorrow night though LOL!!)
 
Do not worry - horses are regularly late, hence me telling you 2 weeks ago it was certainly not going to be for 10 days, that is with very little knowledge of foaling, or Hannah!

How late you ask?? A month is nothing to worry about!!!
