Hi, was wondering if anyone could help i have see a Hanoverian filly for sale and pretty interested in her but i dont really know much about the breed. Has anyone got a Hanoverian or knows what they are like just basic things like temperament. As she is a baby and i have never broken a horse before just wanted to get some opinions.
Thanks all x

Hi Bear0403,
I have a Hanoverian, he's a fab horse. It really depends on the character of the parents though...you haven't mentioned the sire's name / grandsire. Mine is Donnerhall x Warkant, and he is the coolest dude ever, super talented and very loving, obedient, no naughtiness at all.

The sire is Treliver Decanter and he looks so lovely but really wanted people's honest opinion on the breed.
I never went out looking for something else but there is something about her that i like so i might have a look (i'm naughty!!!)

I love hanoverians

There is one at the yard where I work and she is lovely, definately my favourite horse on the yard, she has lots of character (in a good way), and is very sweet. She is lovely to ride as she always tries for you. There are a couple of other hanoverians there too and they are both sweeties as well.

The stallion is not licensed for Hanoverian breeding so you will not get a Hanoverian passport. If the passport is from another studbook the horse could not be called Hanoverian as it will have been registered by the standards of the other studbook not by Hanoverian standards. All Hanoverian stallion are to breed type and performance tested and the stallions dam has to have taken the ridden pwrformance tes so both sides of the bloodline have been seen under saddle.

I have a Hanoverian/TB and shes lovely. A proper character and very beautiful. Her Dad is Inschallah 3 (think thats spelt right) who is a handsome grey stallion. She's cheeky and does have a mind of her own but once you get that bond, I found she trusts me so much and is very clever. Didnt take her long to learn movements and shes very graceful. I do have to watch her weight as shes prone to weight gain, the Hanoverians are the heavier of the German breedsas were bred for farming I believe. Beautiful horses who turn heads!

Dont think you will be disappointed. Wouldnt swap my girl atall. She is very pretty and theres something about them that I love.

they are lovely and it is true they can be very stubborn. We have one who is by a dressage horse which carl hester used to ride at GP level. when i was starting to compete on her it took 2 hrs to get a circle in trot with no bucks, etc ie; two feet on the floor at any one time. very good through once you get them sorted.

I have a Hanovarian mare she is by Gotz II who was not pink papered, which is the german grading system, she was registered with the Hanovairan Society in Newmarket but now has a Sports Horse GB Passport. She is called posh spice on the yard by my liveries, she was given to me as a 12 year old and I broke her, which was not easy, she is a lovely mare to handle on the ground but can be a bit tempermental when being ridden.
