...going for a hack with the OH on a nice evening, then laughing at him when he needs to dismount for a pee, and can't remount his 'oss coz he's all of 16hh, and OH is getting on and 'not so sprightly' these days!

Hence im leading said horse up the lane a bit to find a dip to plonk horse in, lower stirrup and get back on!

Lol, but I shouldn't laugh, I struggle to get on my 14.2hh from the ground.
Hacking is great in the evenings, returning home at sunset is best and if you've good company, then yes its perfick

well at least he got off to perform, I got a second hand saddle that had a deffo pee smell from a hunting man who did not dismount and who,s aim was not so hot!!
I am also old anough to get Hamlet. Which goes hand in hand with needing to park horse in a hole to get on out on a hack!!

my OH used to hack out on my old tb occasionally, one time she refused to walk down a short steep hill with him so he got off and led her down, then couldn't get back on so had to find a little wall to stand on, much to the amusement of lots of tourists, he was in the middle of a very busy national trust village near here
