I’ve never had a rescue before. Various rehomes but never something that I’ve made an enormous difference too.
Well, before this year.
Pep the spaniel is now living her best life with cuddles and work.
Scout the failed trialler is turning into a great dog.
And my Little Red Rooster is just doing what she was bred to and is working like a dog born to it (which she was, if you discount the intervening years).
So raise a Christmas glass to every dog in a safe and happy environment.

Happy Christmas all AAD dogs. I have had a rescue of some sort or another all my adult life joining in with the pedigree dogs. At the moment I have Tess, a collie/ retriever from BRX rescue. She lives with my Flatcoat Sonnet who spent yesterday evening not taking her eyes off me as I prepared sprouts to feed 17
Took a great photo but I don’t know how to resize it!

Here's my rescue who came via a rescue centre from a great home but who sadly had to give him up. I am still in touch with his previous owners and occasionally bump into them. Merry Christmas to all those dogs who can lie safely in their beds with a full tummy and a kind hand.

This works for me after years of not being able to post photos. I share to FB setting "only me", then open in a new window and download to laptop. It's then available if I click "attach files" on post. They come out a bit huge but it does seem to work.

Our rehome has had a great day today, walking in the country park with her 3 best friends. She is developing the confidence to pick up a ball. Then she had bacon when the humans had lunch, came home and had a sleep before tea and went to her best friend's house to play with her toys for the evening.

We realised when we got her home that she was only 5 months old, she is now 10 months, much taller than any of the Labs and looks much more like a Pointer. She is happy and settled, responding to training but still thinks that 'sit' means touch the ground with your bum and bounce up.

Almost everyone we meet when we are out and about with the 3 if them says' you just need a brown one'. So we got one!
The pale yellow belongs to a friend and we look after her when friend is at work, we often meet up to walk together at the weekend. She is just 12 months old, while the adults are 3.

Happy Christmas everyone and every dog ?
Our third Christmas with this one! Photo (hopefully!) of her annual tradition of parking on the couch and watching Ice Age. The couple who originally found her and took her in also called over with a doggie selection box. Nothing better than seeing her warm and content, and so loved.

Happy Christmas..we’ve both had the flu for the last four days,so our turkey breast is still in the freezer.Anyway, your photos are all lovely and remind me of British Christmas time.I can’t believe in Italy they eat Christmas dinner and get their prezzies on Christmas Eve.

Our recent addition, the ex breeder,”free gift”show girl schnauzer settled beautifully but came with an issue..I mentioned she was perfect execpt she weed once every 12 hrs..not normal
We did an x ray so here’s her pic..oxalate crystals.some are 1 cm across.
For the last months she’s eating monge oxalate food and bottom pic shows what she’s managed to pass in her urine..one every few days.…better than a pearl necklace!

oh ow, poor girl!

Better out than in..she’s drinking a lot more and now wees much more often,ie normally..
we return to have another x ray after xmas,to see if the crystals continue to break up.if not the options are ultra sound/ flushing..or surgery which after 3 sections we hope to avoid.

nb
I adopted this girl, and believe no dog should have to endure three sections.

We had 2 rescues, Barley and Lily, and a rehome, Bruce here together with 5 others ranging from Staffie, Spaniels and Labs. Total chaos, daughters lab took a dislike to sons young boisterous lab, Springer acted like a violent overtired toddler. Thanks goodness for 3 kennels enabling to split those where necessary and rotate through dogs being allowed in the house (all these dogs normally live in houses, my kennel is used as a day kennel occaisonally.) Of course old Lily, the battersea staffie stayed in the house all the time, generally being a daft old bat, getting under peoples feet and perfecting her ninja skill of tripping people up.

Merry Christmas Clodagh and all at AAD .
Stirling is having a fabulous first Christmas . We’ve taken him out to the local dog walks and he’s loved it . ( we haven’t gone far , I’m conscious of not over walking ) He’s met lots of lovely people and friendly dogs . His favourite seems to be chocolate labs , he just seems more comfortable with them. the 2 he’s met seem to want to play his style . Sort of bouncy jumpy style ??.
