Yesterday we finally managed to do a One Day Event in one day! The first event of the season that has not required an overnight stay

The sun shone & the ground conditions were as close to perfect as you could ask for and everything ran very smoothly. First into action was the OH & Echo doing BE100 his dressage was ok but not entirely upto his usual standard & I was watching it from afar trying to prevent Bruno from whinnying to his friend & incurring the wrath of OH, the judge got rather stuck on the 6 button & he scored a moderate 38.5 but there were tons on the 40s (& even a few int he 50s) so cant complain.

SJ was fine - medium height & difficulty but clear rounds in all classes were sparse. Echo held it together beatifully until the absolute last fence when they both saw a bit of a 'weeee' stride & took the top rail. OH was then a grumpy bugger getting ready for XC
wink.gif
as it was all his fault!!

He was then foot perfect XC, made it look extremely easy. He caught up with the horse in front & I was having kittens as the fence judges didnt seem able to pull her out of the way but he eventually managed to shout at her & gallop by & Echo is so level headed XC that it didnt make to blindest bit of difference to him

He finished perfect about 6 seconds inside the time & came 10th.

I was in the ON, having a 'nice' run in between OI (which are slightly more stressful for rider!!) Dressage wasnt bad at all for us 33.3 which may have been fractionally better if I hadnt made a small error of course

Gotta 9 for my last halt

Had a huge gap until SJ & he came out fairly wild & was carting me at the practise jump, eventually gave up & went & jumped. Had 2 down, 1 of which was fair enough the other was annoying as I thought I had him anchored but hey ho!

XC obviously looked pretty small compared to recent Intermediate courses & I was a bit worried that he wouldnt back off anything at all & there were various combos which did require a degree of control
tongue.gif
Anyway no need to worry & we sailed round, had to do bit of tugging at 'The Psephologists' jump (she was the fence judge) & confess to only putting 1 stride in the off set brushes where I think everyone else did it in 2. Was home inside the time, which very few were & ended up 6th

Wore my Air Jacket for its debut outing, I think I may have had it a little loose but it was very comfortable & the first thing I did once I was back into walk after the finish was unclip it

All in all a good day was had by all

FigJam - yes we bothed stayed awake all the way home, normally only the driver manages to stay awake!
Eventerlad- I just went so fast you blinked & missed me! I went XC about 6pm.

Hey well done - nice place, isn't it? Did you go back up the M74 between 7 and 9pm last night? Might just have passed you coming the other way
wink.gif
, though I suspect you were a bit earlier than us.

Two rosettes - you're a pair to beat!!

Thanks all - its always nice to see a BE rosette, they really are the most expensive bits of ribbon ever!!
Dont think we saw you GB - we just barely touch the M74, only a teeny weeny bit at the top of the M6 as turn off at Gretna, I might get Andrew to stop off there one of these days
