Don't usually post our show winnings here I know (except the really big one we had a few months ago) but I'm very pleased with my little lady today. She one a graduate class today. Its her first win out of puppy (as she is only 12.5 months!) She also got Res BOB (loosing out to a show champ). It was only a Open show but I'm really happy to get that first win now we have stepped up from puppy classes, I'm not sure why but I was a bit daunted by leaving our BPIS and BPIB days behind us and having to go up against the bigger boys!
Thats all, just wanted to share!

No it was an open show so dogs and bitches in the same classes. The ShCh that beat us for BOB is a lovely dog and certainly no shame in loosing to him at her age, she still looks like a pup and is pretty immature still. To be fair the judge moved us twice to decide, I was amazed and chuffed to bits at that!
Thankies!

Ah right, that is probably the way we will go at open shows, the way the entries are dwindling.
Sounds like you were in very good company, that is very encouraging for the future, onwards and upwards

Wow that is a good step up, from puppy to graduate

Dont Vizlas have maiden, junior etc? Or not at an open show?

But many congratulations, a lovely win for you

Thanks booboos & GH.
Yes we do she is a junior really! No lower breed classes at the show today though

CC- it is a better system really, I didn't realise you guys still seperated sexes at that level. There is nothing more disheartening than turning up to a show to find only one or two ther dogs in your class

Having both dogs and bitches together does dramatically cut out these instances which is great. Especially if your collecting points for a JW where a win won't count if not at least 3 per class. The open show points would be almost impossible to gain in our breed if sexes were split.

LOL Temsik - my mum was meant to be judging dogs at Boston last weekend, but I forbade her from going because of the weather (well, so did lots of other people) and there were classes there with two or three in them because of the snow

They still handed out the ticket mind you, which I am not totally sure I agree with, but I suppose if the judge thought there was a dog there worthy of being a champion then it doesnt matter how many were entered/turned up on the day

Yes, that's true. Even at Champ shows here now, you will find one or two in the class, when ten years ago the classes were so big, they had to be split in two.
In one way it is quite sad, in another, it means there are less surplus/overflow animals from all those squillions of litters, and whatever happened to them.

Yes I know alot of people didn't go. I'm glad we weren't entered.
I guess the judges can always withold the CC if they don't think theres anything good enough to get it. I've seen it happen before but not sure many judges have the heart to do it! I would suspect a few unlikely CC winners got their first CC's that day!

They should have postponed IMO.

Yes I have been to one midweek champ show where my class was teeny and I couldn't claim any points from even though the puppy dog class was big and we won BPIB. That was a real gutter of a day! Was miles away to! Generally though we have well subscribed classes across the board at champ shows.

Oh yes, I think the whole dog showing fraternity thought they should have postponed/cancelled - unless they were the one getting the ticket I suppose

My mum is one who would withhold a ticket, but she is mean like me

Good on her! I like that type of judge, thats the type of judge that actually judges the dog and not the person on the end of the lead!

Hence, we do well under mean judges like your mum!
