Well the season is approaching where maddie could blow up at any second. This summer i hope to be able to feed throughout so thati can give her the supplements she needs. Presently she's on One rounded scoop of happy hoof and is doing very well but i think she may get heavy soon. I would like to keep her a tad leaner than she should do because basically she just gets too fat and is impossible to ride nicely..
I picked up a leaflet about spillers happy dieter, seems pretty similar to happy hoof just looks a bit more feed like(happy hoof seems like a chaff to me..)
Has anyone tried happy dieter and found it helps fatties?

Thank you!
P.s...she is ridden 4/5 times a week and is out on little grazing...

I was using it but not to keep weight down - the vet told me to use it with my mare who had ulcers. It's packed with fibre - thats all i can tell you i'm afraid. It is quite cheap tho!

I used it last summer, and will be again when I finish the hi-fi. He didn't really lose any weight, but then he was still stuffing his face on grass! It has lower calories than happy hoof, thats why I preferred it. I only feed a handful a day.

If you want her food to be more 'feed-like' than chaff, then try Dodson and Horrell safe and sound.
I've changed mine from happy hoof to this (this is all they are fed on), as it has a few more 'chunky' bits and nuggets in it, and seems less boring. Probably all in my head, but the horses certainly like it, and are very shiny and healthy on it!

I've just got a sack of Mollichaff Hoofkind to try & my two love it - ok Little Un will eat anything but Jim, who can be fussy, is also licking his bowl clean

I used Happy dieter last summer and i didn't find it very useful tbh. I'm using Hi Fi lite and Hi Fibre cubes and they are keeping their weight down nicely at the moment.

i've used happy dieter, it does have nuts in it and lots of herbs. i use it as it is unmolased, whereas normal chaff has molasses on it and i have heard molasses hold on weight and are not good for good doers.

my pony likes it (although he likes most things food related) ,
he prefered it to dengie hi fi lite.

I use Allen and Page Ride and Relax in summer. Its low cal and is a mix. but it smells lovely -quite minty! my mare loves it

Happy Dieter must have been improved, it never used to have nuts in it. I've not used it for a couple of years as she wouldn't eat it!
