Happy gentle falling off stories please!

I fell off in a group jumping lesson. We lurched over a jump due to a bit of a communication failure and I ended up somewhere round his left ear. Would have survived if he had done anything other than turn right (in walk). I teetered for a while before gravity took over. I was wearing a body protector, it was indoors on a surface and it didn't hurt although I am 58.

My very first fall off a galloping riding school pony was in slow motion. It was only my third or 4th lesson; the girth was not tight enough, and sure enough the saddle gradually started to slip to the right, and I eventually hit the deck! I wasn't hurt - just shocked!

It didn't stop me getting back on though - I rode the instructor's pony back, whilst she tried to catch my pony who was happily doing laps of the field with a saddle under her belly.......... ?

My funny one was when Bess tripped out on a hack and I rolled forwards over her neck and onto the ground as she did what seemed to be the same thing. My OH laughed her head off when she turned around and saw us both on our backs with our legs in the air. Neither of us were hurt at all.

I think I have posted this before.

I was hacking with sister. I was riding very sensible 14.3hh black & white 'bombproof' cob, accompanying sister's scared of big traffic Appaloosa. We were almost home, on a rutted track, so were riding on a loose rein, chatting, when cob spotted a carpet rolled up and left by a dustbin for collection. She was so busy keeping her eye on the carpet that she tripped over a rut in the road and went down momentarily onto her knees. I slid over her shoulder and landed on the track by her feet. She took a quick look to make sure I was OK and then gazed off into the distance, ignoring me as I climbed back up onto my feet by holding onto her leg.
Fortunately she had no injury either. I'm not sure which of us was more embarrassed.

On another occasion I embarrassed my Draft horse, when I dismounted in the field took a step back and unintentionally sat down. She too, had a quick look down to check that I wasn't hurt and then totally ignored me.

Funny one. Coming down a narrow track to a farm gate, old mare hated narrow gates. Went forward to open it and she shot through I slid off into a great puddle of cow slurry. Cue gales of laughter from friend and a mile back to stables at a walk no rising trot

I used to take rides out and heard a shout from behind. Novice man on a 17h gentle giant hadn't realised he needed to duck under a tree branch so he'd put his hands up to it - ended up clinging on as horse kept walking. Landed pretty elegantly really. Much more elegant than us trying to shove him back up again without a mounting block

Thank you everyone! It does seem as if most falls are non events and we only hear about the sad and crazy ones. Fingers crossed my next fall (and there will be one sometime right??!) is just a pleasant gentle side slip.

I was escorted hacking by a Frenchman one summer and he told Frenchmen never ducked under branches. They steer their horse wide of any tree. My RI remarked that French country paths must be wider than English ones.

Quite a few of the paths through the forest here are wide (four to six metres) but those that branch off are often very narrow.

I can sometimes get away without ducking, by choosing the point where the branch is at its highest. But still, I have to duck now and again.

1.
Literally just slipped off the side while trotting (I’d been riding 10 years at that point) and my instructor was like “wtf?”

2.
jumping the little pony and he got over excited and started bronking and just flicked me off the side.

3.
most recently the horse I was riding tripped over a teeny jump and I just somersaulted over his shoulder, he stopped dead and stood half over the jump like ”what you doing down there?”
