Hi there, I've put down a deposit on a beautiful native breed happy hacker which is exactly what we need for our current circumstances. Price reflects the fact the pony was diagnosed a few years back with hock arthritis, so we're getting x-rays done for comparison with those taken before to see the current state of things and any progression (positive, ie fusing, or negative). I am beyond nervous. Please send happy thoughts and positive experiences of similar scenarios :)

My horse was diagnosed with hock arthritis right after I bought him at 11. The x ray looks hideous but he has a steroid injection as needed (approximately annually) and we've been mooching happily around the countryside together for the last four or five years with no apparent signs of progression. There are lots of treatment options for hock arthritis now so if the price is right and the horse is currently comfortable doing what you want to do, I wouldn't think twice. I hope whatever you find is reassuring and you feel confident in your decision to buy or not buy.
