Figured I'd update you all a bit on my confidences issues.
Things are going FANTASTIC with the new ponio.
Steph is riding a lot and having the time of her life after 12 years break! I haven't been riding as much as I would like, but things have been so stressful at work etc. But what I have been doing is just great.
I feel almost back to normal, cantering no problem, schooling fine by myself, even practicing dressage tests!
Hacking out with friends cob for company (and taking the lead even though he's a bit green still) hacking out alone, but with Steph for company on a bike.
Have taken him out of the yard all alone, down a scary narrow alleyway, out to the road, then back again.
He is very easy to reassure even when he gets a bit worried.
But he LOVES jumping, and so i lunged him over some poles, and small jumps yesterday. Well!! He had me in stitches, talk about having fun!!
This pony just LOVES to jump! He was having a fantastic time, and I haven't laughed so much at a horse in a long time. He just makes you feel so happy!
So inspired by that, I had intended to pop him over a little cross today. But once I was on and warming up, I just didn't feel the time was right.
I have never been a confident jumper, and think that any knock back would be tragic when everything is going so well.
So we changed the challenge from a jump to doing some trot poles instead.
He was riding lovely though, and I got some great moments with him, then put him across a few lines of trot poles, which he handled no problem, no knocks, nice and steady, but a bit eager coming into them initially!
Steph is hoping to jump him tomorrow, a big step for her too, but she's more used to jumping ponies than me!
If things g well, then I intend to try myself if it feels right and I feel ready.
You can't climb everest in a day, but the hills are getting easier
ETA these pics as another before and after. Steph already did one in PG but I'm still quite shocked at how much better he is looking
The day we went to try him
And now......
