I own a 15.2 good doer that is in light work and has been living off grass and hay for the last few years, however his hoof wall has started to come away recently and my blacksmith recommended getting him a supplement and just putting it with a handful of chaff. However I was then told to just get happy hoof as it's low cal and has everything in it.. after purchasing it I read that the recommended daily amount was 2kg for a 15.2 overweight horse which is too much for me to be giving him. So what should I give him that won't make him gain weight but will provide him with the vits/mins he's lacking? I also thought about buying something like farriers favourite and putting it in a handful of silage as I have free access to this but was unsure whether he would eat it? TIA
