Poor B is still on box rest/very, very limited turnout but the tiny silver lining of that is that there's a paddock going spare when there usually isn't at this time of year.

Poor beastie gazing forlornly at paddock #1 which is being reduced to bare dirt by some borrowed riding school oldies before she can go out on it...

Anyway, this leaves paddock #2 empty for snootly fun. :) This was it back in March, doing some down stay training:

So nice to just be able to sit and let them play, it's too warm for canicross or scootering or anything and being all touristy we are currently besieged by idiots on every path. Roll on winter. :p

Very jealous of your weather ! ! !

Did you get my PM about caniX?

I did, almost certain I replied?! Give me a shout if you didn't receive it and I'll reply again. :)

Gorgeous horse: what happened to her feet?

Laminitis. :( Still no idea what precipitated the attack but she has subsequently been diagnosed as being insulin resistant so it's probably been in the pipeline for a long time. Both pedal bones dropped and rotated significantly, right foot has improved dramatically according to Monday's x-ray but left is still pretty bad. The Imprint shoes have been a miracle. :)

Snarly bitchfaces are Dax's speciality! She is in trouble today, not only did she find the most humungous grass snake I have ever seen and have to be dragged off it but then subsequently rolled in fox poo and had to be bathed. The upstairs carpet is still damp and there is sticky fluffy undercoat on every bathroom surface.

How long does it take you to untangle the long lines when they have finished?:D
Very happy looking huskies, and I bet Dax was even happier when she had dabbed eau de fox behind her ears.:p

How long does it take you to untangle the long lines when they have finished?:D

They're actually quite obliging, I don't hold on to the ends of the lines, they're just there for stamping on should anyone try to follow a bunny under the hedge () so apart from when they have snarly teeth fights the lines just trail and sort themselves out.

I am guilty of then bunging them in a wet heap in the back of the car though which is the source of any tangles. :o

I've probably asked this before, but do you work your dogs in harness?

I do but on a fairly informal basis, we scooter once a week, canicross a couple of times a week, Dax has a few Cani-X UK events under her belt now and Ricoh had his first last month, they've got their first proper rally (as in pulling a rig against other huskies) in October. :)

Toffee I can't for the life of me find your PM  but vaguely remembering the contents I think I suggested joining Canicross Trailrunners who are an independent group who post about other dog-friendly running events through the year and arrange local training runs. The season usually only runs October-April due to it being too warm to run dogs in the summer but there's a few events still to go, like the Brutal - http://www.brutalrun.co.uk/race-info/canicross/.

Brilliant; whereabouts in the country are you? :D We'll be at both of the Wydean mushing events in the Forest of Dean (one October, one probably February) for sure, we'll see what else comes up when the racing calendars get sorted.

Down in Kent near Tunbridge Wells.

We normally got to Yately, and Thruxton in Hampshire. And Kings, Rendlesham, Elvenden, etc in East Anglia. Not sure about Wydean yet.
We go to the same rallies as our pups breeder, and the guys we train with - very important especially as it'll be our first season LOL - they need to be there to take the photos when we crash :D

We're at the AMWA weekend on Salisbury, at the end of August.

And we may go to Aviemore, although probably not competing until 2014!

I'll leave this here rather than starting a new thread - what a clever boy! :D

1st place best coat and condition, D got 3rd place for most appealing expression (we were too late for the pedigree classes :o). 10+ in each class so very pleased. Judge took us aside after, gushed about R (not D   ) and told us to come to the big limit show in July.

MM, it's at Craven Arms if the poopster will be ready. Judge today was Grace Brown if you know of her?

Poor B! Hope she makes a quick recovery and can have a (very sensible) go at that lovely grass soon!

Wonderful photos of the dogs, that looks like a lot of fun!

One more post and then I'll let this thread die, I promise!

OH has a stinking rotten cold and absolutely refused to get out of bed to hold dogs for me so I had to pick one to take to the show today - argh! I figured Ricoh needed the socialisation and experience more than D so...

He only goes and wins the working/pastoral class. Two other sibes in there with us (proper show types with be-suited handlers) so my heart sank when I saw them, couldn't believe it when she called us in! Tricksy little sod kept his tail down (mostly) and stood beautifully in a fashion which did not highlight his roach back. :o

Best in show comes along, proper flouncy standard poodle, spinone, newfie type thing etc. in there with us, again all looking scarily professional and stacked to within an inch of their lives. He only goes and wins that too. :D

Could have done without lugging around that sack of food for the the rest of the day but the engraved plate thing is quite naice. Last year's BIS was the sibe that beat Dax to second place in the working group, I will take great delight in adding Ricoh's name to it as a big fat NER. :o

Their portraits also arrived this week:

MM, I picked up the schedule for the Grinshill rescue dog show in September if you're still looking for puppy (well, teenager by then!) socialisation opportunities. :)

I am very proud of my spotty dog. :D

He also won a £15 grooming voucher for Pink Pooches in Shrewsbury if anyone can make use of it? Mine go in the bath or get blasted with the yard hose. :o

What a superstar, you're going to have to get a display cabinet for all the rosettes!
Will certainly try and get to Grinshill, she may even be old enough to enter by then:). There's a show at Dogs Trust too in July, I'm hopefully going to go to that one too.

Slightly off topic, is it tomorrow you are doing the Race for Life, don't envy you in this heat!

:o

It was indeed blardy hot at Race for Life today! Ran an abysmal time but still raised £200 so very pleased. And burnt. :p

The RSPCA centre will have their fun show thing soon as well, can't remember if it's June or July, apparently we are doing agility demos again.

CC, remember the Big Life Plan? On Friday I was asked if I'd consider working for School for Paws. Actual paid doggy work is coming my way, and with hours to suit around the full time evening job I start in July (the insurance gumpf). :D

Hah, aren't we all. :p

I'm still gonna do a month's volunteering for the dreaded RSPCA just to get the name on the old CV but the S4P stuff is PAID, hurrah! I shan't be rich but it'll cover my costs and beer money, other job covers the bills nicely.

Incidentally they're doing a beginner's tracking class for the first time next month just to try out how popular it will be/how on earth to work it for a group glass, might have to pick your brains on that one. :p
