I love my yard there is only one issue and that is it is soo far away it costs me over £180 a month in petrol! (ETS oh and no loo!)

Bert has his own field, yard to wander, a bunch or ickle shetties for company, the hacking is fantastic, it is cheap and YO is a star.

All that said I would love to move it nearer to me.

I would only think of moving to go to the eventing centre and that is due to the XC course. Would love access to one of them.

I really HATE my yard.

Everyday is like a soap opera, so many petty arguments happen, the landladys' two mares were sabotaged by an obsessive man who has a horse there aswell. But then again there have been many different dramas over the years- some even worse. I try to keep myself to myself...Im there to look after my horse and never get involved with any silliness.
Im definetely looking to move yards though.

I love my yard. Horses are pampered by YO who is a star and very easy to get on with. She never throws tantrums and is always ready with the coffee! She grooms all the horses, turns them out and brings them in every day without charging anything. The vet is brill and the blacksmiths come on time. The fields are tended and the poo is picked every 3 days. There are flowers everywhere and the place is kept immaculately clean. The hay and bedding is the best and the feeds are made up for the individual needs of the horses. Where is this haven? Its my own yard

Am surprisingly happy on my yard.....why else would I drag FinnMcCoul over to join me?!

I like the location, the freedom and the friendliness of it, but the biggest seller is what a happy and relaxed chappy my boy has turned into there - the horses seem to feel at home there almost immediately.

There are obviously bugbears - it can be a bit of a mess, the yard owners are hands off, and we have occassional politics (and rodent problems!) but for the most part, it's chilled out and happy, which is how it should be

Love my yard, the YO is great but theres no arena to school in and the access to the yard is problematic at times (a farm track that is hard to get down in winter). Those are only minor problems though, otherwise its the best situation I have ever had since I had the nags at home.

I moved one week ago to a fellow H&Her's place.

I hated my old yard. It was mainly populated by teenage girls in the evenings who were constantly falling out, knew everything there was to know about horses etc...

It is meant to be BHS approved but I now have no faith in the BHS approval system as a result - it was the worst place I have been to (of 9 yards in the past 6 years - moved house alot!) There were plus points - two outdoor rubber arenas and xc fences but as I discovered, the xc fences are out of action from October - March (low-lying, flat ground prone to flooding) and the outdoors were full of kids most of the week.

The worst thing was the atmosphere. At a previous yard I literally walked in through the gate after work and any stress just melted away. On weekend days it was always buzzing with life by 10 am and there were loads of nice people to natter to/hack out with etc.

At the BHS place I turned-up, rode, did my chores and left as soon as I could. After work I ended up being more stressed when I got to the yard due to my things being thrown on the floor/being told my horse was dangerous/things going walkies etc!!

Anyway, week one at the new place and now the horses have settled down with each other I am so much happier already. YO is a star (as are her family) and I am looking forward to helping get the place sorted this summer.

All thanks to this forum really, otherwise I would never have met this person!

Horses are pleasure for most of us these days and most of us have to work and make sacrifices to keep them so we deserve to be in happy surroundings. If you are unhappy, find somewhere new as it will benefit both you and your horse - try and find a place through word of mouth too, even if it means driving round to places and asking peeps what they think!!

I am very happy Its lovely

Its a riding school as pickle is on working livery, but I love it, I get paid to help out at the weekends where I would be there anyway!

I get free rides on the riding school horses when pickle is being used by my dad/a client

and the YO is very knowladagable and would do anything to help you

Also Love the HUGE indoor school and miles and miles of completely off road hacking

I'm reasonably happy at my yard, just a few bug bears, one been people borrowing your stuff and not putting them back, the other is one certain person is so so scruffy, she never sweeps up and it all blows down to my end of the block. One other thing we have a lady who does pirelli (sp?) and I don't mind it, but not when she is doing it on my horses and not been asked too, she is a little in your face, oh and to top it she is deaf, so when you talk to her she is always say "What" or ignoring you!!!!! other than that I love my yard, my four horses are out together and they have nice roomy stables...

I was quite happy at my last yard although this was mainly down to having a few really good mates there. It was lacking in facilities and the YO was a non-horsey chap whose approach was very much "its my way or not at all". I got on well with them and we did have some fun times but when I was forced to move yards following a house move I was really excited about finding somewhere that was much better.

Current yard is lovely - better facilities, hacking, safety and approachable YO thank goodness. Obv there are little niggly problems but nothing to make me want to move yards thankfully.

Having been at a few yds over the years I finally struck gold. Been there 2 yrs now and the main thing is that the relationship between me and the YO is great. Plenty of grazing, ample forage at all times, staff with their heads screwed on, great communication.

For my two horses I have use of a 6 acre field, with lovely stables and left to my own devices, with great hacking and it brightens up my morning and evening to go there ....only issue is that one horse is on restricted grazing (what a waste of 5 of the 6 acres) and the other horse cannot be left on his own otherwise all hell lets loose... so if on your own you either need one horse or four, if you want to take one or two horses out for a hack or anything, so that you have harmony ... anyone with two horses on their own will appreciate exactly where I am coming from or are very lucky horse owners indeed!
