Hi there.
I had good news from the vet about Dottie, good news, can you believe it?! I am used to going to the vets with a pretty good idea that something awful is going to happen and normally Im wrong because its really, really awful!! So I went with trepidation and thoughts of doom and gloom and he scanned her new bad leg and said it looked amazing! The old bad leg looks really good too. He told me to get trotting again, building the trot up relatively quickly, well compared to last time anyway and we should be back cantering in 6-8 weeks. He even talked about eventing next year so I left the vets feeling the very odd sensation of being happy!!
Dottie is equally happy about this
This brings us onto the sad news. I am really loving my cow horse. She is like a breath of fresh air, compared to Dottie and her legs and Belle and her tomfoolery, the cow is a saint, so sweet, easy and kind. I said her future with me would depend on how Dottie was, if Dot looked like she wasn't healing then the cow could stay and go out to do some 80s, but if Dot looked good then I had to man up and advertise the cow. So what was happy news for Dot was sad news for me too as I really am quite partial to my cow. I keep saying that maybe its ok as no one might want her, but she is such a nice person that I doubt that.
Shes been hacking lots and has also been coming along nicely in the school. Her canter is getting so much more grown up and shes just learnt about simple changes and going sideways. She has been mega cute to jump, but sadly I haven't got any photos of exciting stuff, there are some schooling ones though
Its so amazing to think she has changed so much in 7 weeks. When she came she hadn't done anything and now shes been to dressage, jumping & XC schooling like a pro. She was dubious about people and now she follows me around like a dog! She was really thin, her coat was manky, she had rainscald and had a dull, sad look in her eyes. I am so proud of how she looks now
She has also had a go with one of my friends who has schooled her twice and hacked her out once. Summer was a total pro! Its such a lovely feeling seeing a horse that you have started go so sweetly for its first other person. I felt quite emotional seeing how well she did. I guess that's the other thing about her having a new human, that hopefully Ill get to hear a bit about how shes doing and feel proud that I gave her a nice start.
My friend on her
So Im just going to take her out SJing and then Ill do her advert
Belle is a premadonna diva. She is pretty opinionated and Im not having nearly as much fun on her as I am with my cow. I adore her as shes my mares 2nd baby (so Dotties sister) but she is high maintenance! She is so athletic, feels so strong and finds everything pretty easy because of it. Im having to take it slowly with her because I think it would be easy to make a mistake with this one and if that happens I doubt Id be able to undo it!
So that's me and mine... Happy tendon news, sad cow news and a premadonna!!
Thanks for reading x
