Moved the mare and foal and her sister to their new field today, had our fabulous RA Sarah Weston again to load the sister as she is an awkward loader but gets better and better with each visit, and also to load the foal. Foalie's mum had previously been trailer trained by Sarah, when showed the trailer she literally loaded herself, nobody was holding onto her, she just walked straight in!

Really pleased that everyone got moved calmly and happily, also that it was a good experience for them all. Just wanted to share!

I love the way we can get such a good feeling from the many things we ask our horses to do which don't involve riding. My first horse was a difficult loader initially but got much better with time, the measure of a successful day out was the length of time it took to load her. My second mare was a tricky ride, but loaded and unloaded herself from the trailer so beautifully that even when she'd disgraced herself by bucking me off at competitions, I always forgave her when she walked straight into the trailer to go home, and then expertly unloaded herself to a voice command when it was time to come out. It's lovely when we can take pleasure from the general daily handling activities as well as the riding.

Great new awkward loader can ruin you day- I know from weekly experience how nice it is when they DO load!

Well done glad everything went smoothly :)
