My boys havent been turned out since last Tuesday. They were thrilled to be having their NZs put on this morning.
I led snoop and Winston out together, winston was throwing his weight around and was squeeling before i'd even unclipped his headcollar. Usually he belts off and snoop waits, but OH NO!
Rugrat pulls away rope and all and they both go flat out round the field.
I go back to take berts out (usually take all 3 together) for someone who is 27 years old, i had serious problems holding on to him = next minute i see snoopy hopping

Hes managed to get his rope round one leg, but the rope has caught under his opposite shoe.
ARGH! so everytime he moved he would yank the rope along his tendon!
CUE Panic!
I have bertie, who i cant let go of because he will go flat out causing snoopy to go after him whcih could result in him breaking his leg or something.
Anyway, thankfully bertie went into sensible mode and i managed to unclip the rope from snoops headcollar which released the rope around his leg. But unfortunately couldnt pull the rope out from under his shoe ARGH
I had to let bertie go in the end as needed two hands to pull - snoop just stands there with his leg in the air

But soon got bored and pissed off across the field.
Thankfully by the time i had mucked out the rope had come lose and pulled out of the shoe - shoe still in tact too

I only hope hes not done anything to his leg! argh!
Now do i put my entry in for our first comp on sunday or not??
This all before 8am = I could do with out it tbh.

Thanks CC
Heart in mouth moment! seeing my boy hopping! and having one complete idiot wizzing around me lose and the other on a rope!
I felt totally helpless tbh, I didnt know who to go to first lol
Oh well, hopefully theyve all settled down now lol they are filthy too !

Thanks hon.
Me too. Ive just done my entry for him on sunday.
Will bring them all in by 2 so i can have another good look. There was no swelling around his tendon so im hoping hes okay now

Why hadn't they been turned out since last Tuesday? Have they been ill?

Because my fields have been sodden!
With the wind last night the ground had dried up a little!

Thanks.
Im sure he will be fine *she says hoping*
Will go and bring them in shortly.
I do hope we have a hard frost tonight, or they will be staying in again. Theyve pretty much wrecked the field, and YO will have a fit

Hopefully we are in for a few dry days now. Can't believe how much rain we have had. We are lucky at our yard as our YO lets us turn out whatever the weather, and we've still got loads of grass. Nightmare when they can't get out at all isn't it.

Indeed.
My old yard was brilliant for all year turn out. This is a small private yard i have to myself, but YO would like me to be sensible and not ruin the ground - fair enough.
We do have access to a walker and i have flood lights in my arena. But TBH the big horse would rather just kick up his heels in the field.
He has a big smile on his face when he came in covered in mud

Hopefully it wil be nice and dry this week, and they can go out for a few hours every day

That's great, what a relief for you. Sounds like you've got a nice place and can well understand you not wanting to upset the YO. I'm positive the next few days are going to be cold and dry - perfect for drying off some of the land at least hopefully.
