This morning I had a riding lesson - I only started riding a few weeks ago after a five year break, and I've been struggling a bit to regain my confidence, but today's lesson was brilliant!

I was on a Welsh cob gelding who is a retired Grand Prix dressage horse so VERY well-schooled - although rather opinionated! Spent quite a long time trying to persuade him to let me get the mud off his face, and he decided to lean his entire weight on me while I picked out his hooves and then do a lovely turn on the forehand while I was getting the mud out of his back feathers so he nearly knocked me over... but once I was on board I felt totally safe and we had a really good ride. I haven't started cantering again yet but I did loads of trotting and I'm really starting to get the hang of rising trot again (I assumed I'd remember it, like riding a bike, but it turns out I've turned into a sack of potatoes in the last 5 years!).

Bit of a pointless post really but I'm really pleased with myself! I'm normally such a nervous nelly (even before my long break) but I really felt like I made progress today!
