Am I the only one, or do others harbour secret fantasies of riding their kids' poinies?

We have a lovely Section A, fairly solid little thing. Every time I bring her in from the field I'm soooo tempted to hop on and ride her bareback to bring her in. Trouble is, I weigh 11 stone and am fairly sure I'd squish her.

Is it me or are there other wannabe-little-pony-riders? Maybe it's because I never had a pony as a child :D

Maybe I just need therapy...

I can so identify with that!!

I really could do with shifting a stone, but even that won't be enough, sadly :( I'm wondering what's the least I could get away with losing and still be able to sneak a bareback ride!
 
Between my son and my friends son we're in the process of breaking in the kids coblet and I soooo want to hop on and do it, not helped by the fact he took off with friends son who came back beaming and saying how fast he is and how he'll be great at games/ jump offs. I always wanted a pony like that :o I am trying to console myself by hoping that when he finishes growing and bulking out I will be able to have the odd potter on him :)
 
I pick up a section A on thurs, I WILL be riding him from the field!

Maybe even a sneeky school before and kids get on him (he is recently backed 4 year old)

I am 8 stone so hopefully a little sit now and then wont be tooooo bad
 
Ours is very stocky, I am going to try and get to about 9 stone , for a short little plod about, although I am sure he would be fine with 10 stone, just for a 5 min walk about :)

Could not do it to him though, plus I really want to be 9 stone again :D
 
I want a fun pony too. :)

My old instructor competed to a high level but I can remember her telling me how much fun she had riding her little pony (possibly a Welsh A) who was meant to be a companion to the comp horses. As he was getting tubby, she brought him into work and I've never seen anyone grin so widely as when she took him for a spin on the XC course (the smaller jumps), he loved it. :D
 
I have been known to get on our two little sec A's when for one reason or another they have the devil in them. Luckily now kids are older and better riders.
Believe me once your on the fantasy your harbouring will pass :D
 
Me, me! Daughters is 11.1 mini x (nf is best guess) and build wise I wouldn't want more than six stone on her. At 5'10 & 9 stone its not an option but she is so whizzy & looks so fun to ride I wish I could. Sadly even if I weighed 6 stone I am far too tall. I blame it on the fact I have always been leggy & got ridiculously tall on small ponies way before I was too heavy & never got long enough on little ones.
 
This is one of the plus sides of being small hehe :) means I can just hop on my little sisters welshie whenever I feel like it! Even had a little go this afternoon :D I love little ponies :D
 
I used to ride our Sec A occasionally but haven't for a long time. BUT I do ride our 13.2 a lot and will take him out for a hack tomorrow. He's a whizzy, safe, but forward going Arab X. Spends most of the time with his head and tail up. I prefer dressage as my chosen discipline so he is the antithesis of this. But he's so much fun to ride. :p:)
 
not so much kids pony..but the little shetty in the field. Adorable cheeky little thing broken to ride but used as a field companion. Amount of times ive wanted to take him out on a mini hack...
Somehow im not sure if the 10hh thing would carry me, even if i am only 7.5st :( :o
 
Omg what I would do to get on the 12.2hh welsh, but I would kill him at nearly 6 foot and way over weight, so the only thing is get a good teacher which both ponies now have.

I do :) Benefits of being small and runty :D Had summer jobs through Uni working as a breaker at a dartmoor stud and grooming for an interntional 128 showjumper, and still take on the occasional reschool.
 
Since buying a shetland for a companion last year I have sooo been dying to ride him! Completely out of the question considering he's 9hh and 2years old and I'm reasonably tall (look big on my 14.2 welsh cob) and almost 10st!
I blame it on never having a pony when I was a kid (16.1 IDx isn't very good at 'games' I discovered aged 17) ;)
 
I do! I never got a proper chance to ride ponies as i was always too tall, and by the time I got Ebony at 13 I needed a full up 15.1 horse. having said that Ebony was so pony like it was great, we always used to win at pony games fair enough she was taller but she was nowhwere near as agile.But yeah she was cool, but I would have loved to have had a pony to play around with :)
