... to people as well as horses !!
Just though I would post after having a trauma yesterday.
My welsh cob has been on box rest for 2 weeks after being lame with what I was afraid was laminitis but turned out be bruised feet. He is unshod, and unfortunately his habit of arriving at speed to get to the feed bucket has done him no good on the hard ground. Anyway, after 2 weeks in he seemed a lot better but the vet advised me to proceed with caution, so I spent yesterday afternoon making a small electric fence pen. He stayed put for a few minutes but then the open field became too much and he set off flat out through the tape. Unfortunately I was still adjusting it and it wrapped round me, knocked me over backwards and I cracked my head on the ground and knocked myself out. When I came round I had obviously been dragged along the ground and the tape had taken the skin off the top of my arm. You read about people starting to wear hats even for handling on the ground and Im starting to see why ! Anyway, its back in the stable for now until his Old Mac G2s arrive (thanks to the person who posted about them yesterday), and next time I will sedate him before he goes out. Quite cross with myself really but you live and learn ....
