Hi Guys,
Just wanting to see what you guys would be thinking, had a call from my field sharers yesterday afternoon to say that they had noticed my 6 yr old cob mare had a lump on her chest (wasn't there on the morning check!), they brought her in to stable though they did have a issue catching her but I am thinking that she was just spooked and slightly stressed at this point as she is a dream to catch in normal circumstances. I get there the lump is about a clenched hand size, right in between the legs, it is a solid mass, not painful to touch as Prinny stood there and let us fuss about and prod and touch it without flinching. It has heat in it so we thought she has had a kick in the field (a new chappie has recently come in the field so a bit of argy bargy going on) or maybe a fly/sting bite... Cold hosed it for 15 mins rested it and repeated the cold hose, turned her back out all rugged up and she seemed her happy self, grazing and being social. I am at work today so had the most experienced owner on the yard check on her this morning, lump still there, she isn't lame and is herself...My question is would you carry on for another couple of days cold hosing etc or is there something else I can do? I have called the vets this morning for advice and just waiting for them to call me back ... Could this be something other than a kick or bite. any suggestions would be useful and as mentioned just waiting on the vet to discuss xx
