Went to vets today with my Newfie as she has a hard walnut size lump on her side. Cytology taken, although they couldn't really drain much off with a needle. Vet very confused by it. She has had a lot of grass seeds in her this year, which i've managed to get out with tweezers and as I've been so vigilant about those types of bumps am pretty sure this did not start with a foreign body.
I'm very worried, plus her allergies are in over drive with all the harvesting around, so more antihistamines, fuciderm, aurizon to help the constant itching.
Just need some good vibes as she is 7 and the vet once told me she had not seen a Newfie live past 8....

Vibes from one Newfy owner to another. Hope nothin serious. My lab got a hard lump turned out was a insect bite- think horse fly.
I also no plenty of Newfys who have lived to 10 and beyond. Mine however is 5 and on borrowed time as her hock is disintegrating :(

Could it be a lypoma (not sure of the spelling but it is a fatty lump) ? My last dog (collie x) suffered with these. Can easily be operated on if it is on the side. Healing vibes sent to you.

I've researched lipomas and they always seem to be soft. This is hard, and sounds as though it could be a mast cell tumour worse case scenario. Any veterinary nurses on here to give an opinion? Biopsy results wednesday anyway.

has she has her jabs recently? as in last 6 weeks? Vet was all ready to put our Dobie under and chop him around until we stopped them and asked whether it could be vacc reaction 0 it was large and hard too, (Crap vet, I know, never even looked at the notes, moved vets!)

Dobe (now a lot older) has lots of fatty lumps, some removed in op, the biggest ones), They are def soft to the touch and quite mobile tho. As he also has heart failure he prob will go with the rest rather than die of them :-((
