My horse came in on Tuesday with this lump. He's not lame, you can only notice he's slightly off on a tight circle. No heat and have been cold hosing every day and it's still the same, doesn't bother him to squeeze/ touch it's that hard it feels like bone.
Any ideas
Ok its taken me a while but here are the pics

Sorry they're huge!

I'm sorry I don't understand. You say he is not lame, then you say he is slightly off. Sorry but slightly off is lame.

Although I think I understand that you are trying to say he is only 1/10th lame and not hopping

There are several really important tendons/ligaments in that area that can be very serious and that don't always show lameness or even much heat despite being career ending if not treated.

I must admit the hardness of it is a little baffling but personally I wouldn't risk it with a good horse I would box rest and get vet

I'd suspect sesamoiditis, but the vet will be able to advise, it might be worth giving them a call and see what he says.

He isn't lame to trot in a straight line, but doesn't cross that leg over enough when he's doing a tight turn, if that makes sense?!
He is currently on rest (not box, as he doesnt take kindly to that!) and will speak to the vet on tomorrow. Its the hardness thats confusing me as well
will google sesamoidits
