Hard to get new good livery people

No, but then I don't do part livery, only full, which suits me fine because I don't want owners cluttering up the place! (Joke, I don't care what they do as long as they pay me)

What do you mean by Part Livery anyhow? It seems to vary from yard to yard. Perhaps if you offered DIY/assisted DIY you would have more takers? Has anyone said why they turned down your yard?

What sort of services do you offer for what sort of price?

What area of the country are you in? Round my way (Kent) its DIY and Assisted livery that seems to be in high demand, far fewer people can afford the luxury of full/part livery.

Agree with the above, could you offer a few Assisted spaces?

The yard where we are has full, part and DIY. It is now nearly all DIY with help. We have 2 full and now only one on part. I am afraid it is a sign of the times. Alot of people just cannot afford full or part at the moment. You may have to wait a bit or be a little more flexible. Sorry to be gloomy.

Advertise EVERYWHERE you can and be prepared to be flexible (DIY, Grass, whatever it takes to get business rolling in) is what I would advise.

Why do you prefer not to offer DIY? I am only curious because if I were looking for Board I wouldn't even consider Part or Full Board and if I enquired and you told me "No DIY" I'd keep on looking.

As you say, you have only been open a week, give it time for word to get around and keep plugging those advertisements. Maybe a sign at the end of the drive, (are you allowed to do that?) you would be surprised how many people find yards on a drive-by, or from people saying "Oh, I saw one near so-and-so the other day"

Good Luck.

I am not far from you but we only do DIY and I have a waiting list for DIY, the trouble is this time of year people are normally settled into yards where they are for the winter. People will be queing up when they hear how good you are and what good facilities you have, the old grapevine is the only way to fill up your yard. In the current climate a lot of people are moving onto DIY to save money which is unfortunate to those who offer part and full, it might be an idea to offer 5 day part livery and 2 day DIY. If I get any people enquring for part or full will refer them to your website.

you've opened a yard in an area where there are many yards- so it will take time- you need to have something that other have not got- e.g fantastic hacking- are you near the flitch way by any chance as that 17miles of off road hacking.

good luck, and be patient! if only open a week then hang on. advertise at tack shops feed merchants etc, go to local shows and put fliers on lorries, find your selling point (good grazing, excellent hacking, indoor school, outdoor with lights etc instruction in disciplines )) be flexible with arrangements for first 18 months then skim down to what you want
its a hard hobby job, but do your costings (incl bus rates insurance water electric feed bedding muck removal and maintenance ) and charge accordingly and in time you can make it work, good luck and keep your standards high, clean and tidy!

As already stated, with the current economic climate alot of people can't afford the luxury of part/full livery and there has been an increase in the demand for DIY, similarly if you set up in an area where there are established yards already it will take time. What facilities do you have that may set you apart from the rest??? A yard near me set up in the summer, they have lovely stables and post and rail fencing but hacking is straight onto a very busy road and they don't have a school, they've had lots of enquiries but so far only have my foals there (foal don't need hacking or a school! and post and rail is perfect for me!!) but where I have my mare has excellent hacking and a school and is usually full.

Hi, I'm in Lancs and only do part and full livery. I have never advertised as I have always had a waiting list but I do have a spare stable for the first time ever.......hopefully it will fill up soon.....
