Hi......I have found a horse that both me and my daughter really like....we have ridden him and seem lots of photos and videos and he is just perfect for us.......we are novices - been riding for years and daughter jumps and helps out at stables etc, but we have never owned a horse, so this is a first.....we are having the horse vetted (5 stage) next week and my very experienced yard owner is coming with me. I am so excited but also nervous as the owner has been very honest about a previous ligament injury two years ago, that is now fine and horse is back working at the level we will want........I just wish Monday would come soon!!!!

Do hope he passes the vet for you and have fun if he ends up with you!
Very exciting and nerve wracking at the same time isn't it!
Good that you have the support of your YO.
Please would you keep us updated?

It's better to wait than rush and make a mistake! I had to wait 3 weeks for my horse and it was agony, I wished the entire time away! I passed the time by buying little bits and bobs and doing lots of research lol!

Hope it all works out.

X

I'm so envious! I'm in my 40's now and dreamt of owning a pony/horse since I was 5. I'm finally getting close to the point where me and my daughter (aged 8 and pony mad) can think about that big step. I wish you all the luck in the world and hope its all you wish for. Please let us know how you get on. I feel like an expectant mum; looking through tack shops and web sites for bits and bobs so I know just how excited you are :) x

Lol you sound just like me! I am 41, and my daughter is 13, and I have always wanted my own horse too!!! She is horse mad, and is a good wee rider....I am getting there but not great - muscles aren't what they used to be :-)) but I enjoy it sooo much. I forget all my cares and responsibilities when I am at the stables, and I am also spending lots of time looking at all the yummy stuff to buy lol.....don't think my husband is going what's hit him....ha ha

Oh I know just how you feel. I've lost my core strength and I've got my own saddle bags but yes, it's fantastic. I too forget about what's for dinner, the pile of ironing waiting for me and the kids homework whilst I'm at the stables. I'm sure your husband will LOVE being dragged round tack shops and shows lol! Best of luck x

Fingers crossed for the vetting! It's good that you'll have support close to hand :)

ps- I am generally considered pretty unflappable...but heck, vettings are stressful! I had to ask the man who vetted Barry whether or not he'd passed him as I couldn't tell!

Can't wait til tomorrow...... Fingers crossed :-). It's so hard cause I know about his previous collateral ligament damage.....and I know any horse can be sound 'on the day'.....so will have a difficult decision to make if he passes...obviously if he fails, will be walking. But having seen loads of horses on this quest, he is the only one I really, really, really liked and could see being part of us, and wanted to have him more than anything. Feel like a teenager lol. He has been sound for 8 months and doing everything we want.......

Be positive. Try to get some sleep and just enjoy the day. I've got everything crossed for you. Keep us posted x

Well, not good :-(. He failed the vet for being lame in right hind. Didn't even get to the ridden part...........

However, on way home went by a another place and fell in love big time, ended up going way over budget (lol but my lovely hubby said yes) and am getting him 5 stage vetted tomorrow, with delivery on Wednesday should all go well......so a bit of a roller coaster day!

This horse is ten, chestnut gelding, 17.1 and gorgeous, safe and comfy! I am much more nervous about this vetting tomorrow, as I will seriously be gutted if he fails.....much more than other horse :-). Some things are meant to be lol.....

Will keep you all posted - fingers and toes crossed!
