Does anyone use the liveryman harmony plus clippers for a thicker coat (Cushings type)? I am wanting to buy some clippers but have never clipped before and have heard these are a good option for beginners… I have one horse with a normal coat who I feel would be fine with them but my other horse (my practice Guinea pig!) is older and gets very fury. Would these clippers cope with this? I’m not worried about having to do his coat in more than one go as he doesn’t really go out very often but obviously wouldn’t want to break them?

If not… any other recommendations?
Thank you!

I have the trimmer version and they're great. But I have the bigger Black Beauty clippers for the body.

If you got the wide blade on the Harmony Plus, you absolutely can do the whole body on a normal coated horse. That said, I personally wouldn't bother with those on a Cushings horse unless you could properly bathe the horse to get the coat as clean as possible before clipping. The cleanliness of the coat would be crucial if you wanted to use these as full body clippers. Doing a Cushinoid horse with a thick, dirty coat is going to dull blades and burn out the clipper motor pretty quickly compared to a clean coat, especially one of a non-Cushings variety.

I personally would prefer the bigger clippers for any Cushings type, but it's personal preference. I did full body clips for years just with my trusty Andis clippers (comparable with the Harmony Plus with wide blade). But they needed a motor recondition a couple years ago because they all will eventually get tired. And that's clipping normal coated, clean horses. The HPs with wide blade will just take a little longer as they're not as large/powerful as other options.
