This is my first post in this area of the forum, just wondering if anyone could recomend a good harness for the car so that the dog is safe and cant fall off the seat?
Personally, I don't like them as they are quite restricting and OH's lab could get himself into a right muddle in them, so we dont bother anymore. He seemed to more around more with the harness than he does without
Only gripe I have is that the front bit of trim has fallen off - there was a triangle of fabric that covered the join between the straps that go over his shoulders and the strap that runs between his front legs. Doesn't affect how it works, it just doesn't look as nice
Its just my dads dog goes to work with him in the lorry, and a couple of weeks ago he fell of the seat and has ended up with neck problems (which may have been there already) and I want to keep him more secure, my dad wont use a cage and its not a option to not take the dog!!
HappyHack, you are liable for a £60 fine and three penalty points if the cops catch you with an unrestrained dog in the main body of your car, which I kinda agree with, a lab hitting you at force in the event of an accident would hurt like hell.
Also, it's a legal requirement to have the dog secured in some way so it can't distract the driver, I believe. Think CaveCanem has a few mates who've been hit with £60 fines for having loose dogs in the car with them.
Henry's harness has stopped him when I've had to do emergency stops.
I think it would be the idea of the lab hitting me on the back of the head as it goes out through the windscreen, thus breaking my neck in the process, which would kind of put me off having him loose
In pets at home they do ones made my the AA. I love mine.
I was skeptical of it when i first got it, thinking it was just another rubbishy made harness but its comfortable easily adjustable and pretty secure!
Can't stand it when people have their dogs loose in the car. Not only will they kill you if they hit you in a crash but you wouldn't have your kid unstrapped in the car would you?
I was going to post a similar question as I need one for Bruce when he comes out with me in the horsebox! HR - what size is the one you have for Henry?

whoa, I didnt know that!!
Thanks gang! Toby dog will from now on be restrained or ut in the boot. (needed an excuse to clear out the boot anyway!)
That happened to my mate after he got fined, the day after he bought it
.
She is now....in a crate in the boot! The brand he and another bloke bought are certainly strong enough as they both use theirs for protection training too.
