How much should it cost for a farmer to chain harrow aprox 4 acres? I am hoping to get a feild done as soon as dry enough.

They normally charge by the hour - £40-80 depending on where you are. 4 acres would take less than an hour I imagine with a big harrow plus how long it takes to get to you etc.

My friend has an eye watering quote to do her tiny field just recently.
I guess they have to charge more than the average hour to get to and from a tiny job and make it worth doing.
Not necessarily, that sounds more like they don't want the job...

Try another contractor in the area or ask around the neighbours - as the same contractor might do rotations from area to area/village to village and add your friends field to the job list in that area - more worthwhile doing that way for them.

If you have it split into paddocks, then the higher cost will def kick in as more time needs taking.
Really depends on where you are though. I usually pay around 50 to 60 to farmer friend as mine is split up.

A local contractor who is prompt and v professional charges £120, he does the start time when he leaves his yard and returns tho.

I have had a quote for £100 for 2 hours then £50 per hour after. Seems reasonable to me. I dont think it will take more than 2 hours. Question is when will it ever dry up enough!
