My pony has a wide barrel and forward girth groove. My saddler has balanced, reflocked and added a point strap to the saddle and recommended a Harry Dabbs anatomic girth.

All seemed well at first but now pony has bald areas behind his elbows.

At my lesson today, HURRAY first one for 5 months, my instructor said she thought the girth was possibly too wide and not shaped enough.

Has anyone any suggestions for a narrow extra shaped girth?
Or any other suggestions that may help.

Thanks.

I did at coat change times use dead sheep on mine too (cut a sleeve in half so one bit behind each elbow). I think the prolite might be a bit narrower at the point of the elbows and is more extreme in shape (should have been great for us on paper) but we couldn't get even pressure with it at all.

Pro choice ventech worked well too

I have no leather recommendations (mare had an ideal affinity F2, forwards groove, big barrel, no shoulders, built downhill - so some task) that worked well but F always got rubbed with leather.

Bridleway make a cheap version,
and my first one was the old style non ventilated version second hand off ebay.
Unfortunately they were only a 42" so no good to you!

If I have found the right girths, Ventech and Bridleway, they both do larger sizes now.
Do they help stop forward saddle slip? I haven’t found a specific mention of ‘forward’ in any description, just ‘slipping’. I might have missed it though.

For me it was more that they didn't pull themselves too forwards into the girth groove (that was our issue with the prolite) and the edges being super soft so they didn't rub.

Ah, thank you.
All the suggestions I have had before yours have been to use a girth that offsets the angle between the girth straps and the girth groove, hence using the Harry Dabbs.
The Ventech is intended to keep the girth behind the groove closer to the barrel. Have I got that right?
