I am looking at ordering a Harry Dabbs show saddle, I wondered if anyone has one and what you think of them? I don't know much about them. One of the things I like is they can be adjusted by a saddler for only around £30.
My niece has one and loves it - personally I beleive in getting the right saddle for the horse and rider rather than the brand or name or the way it looks
I haven't come across one in the flesh though I had a friend who had one but couldn't get on with it, I think they look very like the Black country show saddles and are around the same price tag, personally I would prefer the black country one
Slinkyunicorn I am looking for a show saddle, and it will probably have to be made to template, I have been offered a very good price on a new Harry Dabbs, but as they are not as popular as the Ideals and Fyldes etc I wondered what people thought. I will obviously buy what suits my horse best....
I think that these saddles use traditional beech laminate trees, all of which CAN be adjusted by a saddle fitter/saddler, it's just a matter of finding one that works that way, some fitters won't adjust trees. If you buy a saddle from someone who does work that way then you know you've got plenty of life in your saddle over the coming years
I had one which was really nice, well made and very comfy, unfortunately it didn't fit my horse so I sold it to my boss, who then sold his horse so the saddle is now for sale! It was made from templates to fit a high withered TB so was a great fit for Ex-racers!
