Harry Hall Insurance vet fee policy - notifying death of horse

Can anyone who has Harry Hall insurance help with some information? I have Gold One Club family membership and 4 horses on their vet fee policy. One of my horses passed away (he was very elderly) and there is no insurance claim involved but when I look on their portal to remove him from my policy it indicates that *any* change will cost £10. Indeed if I try to delete his entry on the portal myself it flags that this will cost £10. This is, of course, outrageous, but I don't want to bring it up with them if they are going to fleece me for £10 and could just wait until policy renewal time and do it then but I would rather sort it out now. Has anyone else been through this and challenged this admin fee?

I got charged £20 because I added another one on as I notified them of the death - and I wasn't expecting it.

I wish I'd waited until renewal

I expect if you read the terms and conditions it will say that an admin fee is payable for any changes throughout the life of the policy. I would just wait until renewal.
Yes it does, it's just that every other organisation I have dealt with waives fees when you are telling them about a death, and in reality all the admin is being done by me by removing the name on the portal. It's just decency really.

I tried to cancel my HH policy when I moved to Ireland but was told I had to pay the monthly subscriptions until the anniversary date. I was assured I would get a renewal due notification email. That was only a few months so I complied. No notification materialised and the policy automatically renewed for another year. I wrote to HH and had my bank block the payments. Years of nasty, threatening emails and letters ensued. I started off by replying and explaining my position but they were intractable. I received a recorded letter earlier this year to advise my policy was in danger of lapsing as I hadn’t paid. Received another recorded letter a month later that regrettably HH had cancelled my policy. I thought they usefully filled a gap in the insurance market but they were ruthless in pursuit of my money.

They renewed my membership and took my money for several years, despite my cancellation, which they acknowledged. Last year when they took money again I called them theives and threatened small claims court. I did get my money back and I've asked my bank to block payments to them so we'll see what happens when the renewal date rolls round.

Horrible, horrible company, avoid at all costs.
