Went to the Polden Hills show yesterday in Somerset, Harry's second ever outing. And once again, he was a complete star!! We entered 4 classes and get placed in every one :D We did:

Best condition - 4th place
1,2,3 year olds - 2nd place (though judge really debated between us and 1st place)
Coloureds - 3rd place
Working hunter - 5th place

No 1st this time but there were faarrr more people at this show and much more competition so I am more than happy with what we did get. REALLY happy with our 2nd as we were originally pulled in about 9th! All us hairies were at the bottom so thought, uh oh, she doesn't like hairies... But after our individual show, we shot up to 2nd because his movement was brilliant. So so pleased :D

Here's a few pics of the sexy beast hehe

Well done he looks great i am taking my youngster to his first show in a couple of weeks hope hes as well behaved am thinkin he won't be though lol

It was a working hunter type horse or pony class, so those that could potentially do working hunter :) Which I am hoping I'll be able to do once Harry is broken.

Lol, the white bits took some doing but soooo pleased the effort paid off :D

On mention of working hunter... My OH told me that when I was in the class, another person who was in it was complaining about having gypsy vanners in a working hunter type class (there was me and a couple of others). Is it wrong that I entered? I thought any horse could do working hunter really? Or am I wrong? :S

I thought pretty much anybody could enter working hunter classes...or that's how it seems when i go?
never really thought about it much!
He looked great matey - forget what the other people said they were probably just jealous!!
:)

What a clever boyo, you must be very proud.

With regards to WH hunter class, at local level, if it can do the job, why not have a go (in the ridden class), after all its all about having fun and having a go, cobs can make lovely hunting ponies, but on the OH, to be 'correct' they are not the traditional type of WH pony that you'd show off as WH type pony, (think like a heavier show pony type) but it really depends on the show, how the classes are usually judged and who is judging :)

He is gorgeous, well done!!

Now can you get Harry to come and have a word with my 3 year old and tell him how inhand showing should be done, ie not galopping off, biting and tanking off with me round the ring as per this weekend!

Ah thanks Kenzo, I did wonder... Well it was a local pony club one so don't think there was any harm in it but I'll remember for future reference :) Judge didn't say anything, though there was one very pretty fillie that she did put near the bottom because she was too fine, more of a riding pony than working hunter, so I guess she didn't think we were too out of place.

Awww Archie, sounds like you had an interesting time... lol! I'm sure he'll calm down, I'm just so lucky with Harry, he's taken to it like a duck to water. He made me chuckle because everytime I put his bridle on for the next class, he'd go all sleeply, like an automatic switch lol! Just need to make him a little more awake so he shows off a bit hehe

How's your boy at home if you practice with him? I must admit, it took a little while for Harry to get the hang of turning away from me, he had a tendancy to run out and around when I wanted him to go the other way lol!!
